I find that this term is not acceptable or well-received in most circles here in Portland. It rhymes with a certain word that has been used to slander African Americans, and implies that the actions of lower class white people are a reflection of or similar to the black community.

so how can i say WIGGER without offending white people in overpriced thrift store clothing while they drink overpriced liquor in a bar...a bar that used to belong to working class blacks who feel they can no longer comfortably afford or frequent that establishment?!
