Help with music reccomendations?
I friend of mine asked me to reccomend "music like old D.R.I. that's 95 BPM to 190 BPM". This guy doesn't really listen to a lot of punk rock, but I'm guessing he wants to branch out a little more. I pulled out my metronome and 95-190BPM doesn't even touch old D.R.I.
Anyone have any ideas? My first thought was M.D.C. since I've been feinding on them lately, but maybe that's too harsh for this guy?

Re: Help with music reccomendations?
dude, THE NEOS! DRI says they were their biggest influence http://www.myspace.com/theneos
Stikky, one of the most underrated bands from the 80s, get your hands on the Spamthology CD http://www.myspace.com/stikkymusic
and the rest, well RKL rule, does F.O.D., but then I mean, there's lots of badass punk music out there, do you just want fast stuff from the 80s?

Negative Approach
Jerry's Kids
also, if he liked the DRI crossover stuff, Excel's first two albums are a good recommendation.

Maybe early Agnostic Front? Not quite as fast as D.R.I., but still pretty manic.
There's always NYC Mayhem and Lärm, for the really fast stuff.

Incalculably stupid, i trust you'll agree.

Re: Help with music reccomendations?
After talking to him some more, I think he's looking for more mid-period DRI stuff, more on the crossover side of things. He asked for stuff like "Suicidal Tendencies, but without all the melody".

Re: Help with music reccomendations?
I'm thinking along the lines of C.O.C.'s "Technocracy", the first Ludichrist album, first M.O.D. album and maaaybe Lawnmower Deth. Once he's into those he could try stuff like Stikky and Gang Green, but I think he's looking for more metal than HC.

Definitely Excel then. Ludichrist. Uncle Slam. Crumbsuckers. Dr. Know's "This Island Earth" and "wreckage In Flesh" albums, SOD and MOD's first albums,

later Gang Green is metal, very similar to D.R.I. - CrossoverBarcass Grinder wrote:I'm thinking along the lines of C.O.C.'s "Technocracy", the first Ludichrist album, first M.O.D. album and maaaybe Lawnmower Deth. Re: Help with music reccomendations?
He might also dig Broken Bones or early Agnostic Front. If he doesn't like Life Sentence - he's a fag.

Re: Help with music reccomendations?
wow, this is a strange coincidence, I've been listening to a lot of DRI and other crossover lately.
not sure if they've been mentioned, but maybe Crumbsuckers might be what he's looking for?
