Anybody here got TMJ the problems?
I have a significantly fucked TMJ. My dentist is so scared of it she sent me to a "specialist". I can't open my mouth past about two fingers width without pain and much farther it gets in a painful lock that I have to pound with my fist to get out of. It has been plaguing me for the past decade and has only recently gotten to the point it is now. I've put off doing anything about it because I don't want surgery, which I have convinced myself is the only answer to the problem.
I went to the specialist last week and he showed my everything wrong with me, how my constant jaw clenching has calcified my jaw tendons and created bulbous additions of bone at the bottom corners of my jaw to compensate for the amounts of muscle tension I experience through the day. It's way worse on the right side and he showed me how my neck has 10% scoliosis curving my neck way to the right and forward which is fucking up my posture and also closing down my airway, causing mild sleep apnea. This, apparently is fucking up my posture which is causing my feet to splay and ruin the arches of my feet.
His treatment is this glorified mouth guard, some cold laser treatment to manipulate the jaw muscles in a different direction, chiropractic therapy, and acupuncture. He wants to RAPE my bank account for this and there's a possibility my insurance (both dental and health) will not cover it because he is out of network. They assure me I will be reimbursed most of it and I have great insurance on both sides, but I'm skeptical as fuck.
Has anybody here had a TMJ problem?
Have you done anything about it?
Did it work?
Did you cum?
Did he?

Re: Anybody here got TMJ the problems?
Jesus, that's insane stuff in the first post. I had maybe 1 month of discomfort from related stuff over the most recent December/January... I think I was stressing over dissertation/defense/moving and grinding (!!!) my teeth. This led to me not being able to shut my jaw all the way - it was sort of misaligned and it was worse in the morning. Bad pain at the TMJ joint. I wore a mouthguard for a few nights, but I decided that was just misaligning my jaw worse than doing nothing. I think I ended up de-stressing and have been fine for some months now. It drove me CRAZY that I couldn't close my jaw all the way... really happy that shit is gone.

My ex-wife had/has it. She got braces, a splint to wear at night to keep from grinding teeth in the middle of the night and eventually surgery. It seems after much healing time the surgery at least made it way better.

my sweetie used to wear a mouthguard, but either she isn't stressed anymore or me punching her in the back everytime I hear grinding teeth snapped her out of it. Actually the chiropracter might have had something to do with it.

Re: Anybody here got TMJ the problems?
This. I went through a period when it would lock up around the distance you described and I'd have to hit it loose.pleasuretokill wrote:I have it, but only minor right now... nothing anywhere as bad as you described..
It doesnt do that anymore, really. The only thing I could think of that might have helped was that I stopped chewing gum, but it wasnt as bad as yours. Now, I get an excruciating pain every once in a while when I yawn. I can deal with it since it doesn't happen all the time.
But youre post makes me scurred of what might eventually happen.

Re: Anybody here got TMJ the problems?
I've had it for years. My jaw doesn't lock, but it pops every time I get to about halfway open. I can't chew anything for very long, like gum, because it will start to make my jaw really tired and sore. It sucks. I had some exercises to do for a while, but I really don't like having my fingers in my mouth, so I just deal.

I really don't want surgery, that's why I've put it off for so long, it's so fucked that I assume that's the only answer. This guy says he can fix it without surgery. I made a video of the jaw popping wit da fist:Jesus H Dump wrote:My ex-wife had/has it. Fuck that sounds gnarly I get the occasional pain with a big yawn like Jen Said Destroy described also. Are your neck problems contributing to this or are the jaw problems causing the neck problems? A couple years ago I woke up with a terrible neck pain and it looked like my shoulder was 5 inches higher than the other for the whole day, it eventually went away but ever since my neck has always been a little bit crooked to one side.

Re: Anybody here got TMJ the problems?
He said the jaw caused the neck, from all the clenching. The tendons and muscles are all pulling to where the stress is and in my case it's the right TMJ. He showed my an x ray of my crooked neck and in the cat scans everything from the neck up sort of flows to the right side. My jaw was the weirdest, I've noticed the bottom corners of my jaw bone get bigger and more bulbous over the years and just thought it was natural growth, but it makes sense now because it's like I have balls of bone on each corner of my jaw bone, not a smooth corner.Scarlet Bro Hansen wrote:Fuck that sounds gnarly I get the occasional pain with a big yawn like Jen Said Destroy described also. Shit, that makes me wonder if I have jaw problems that caused my neck problems as I had the yawning pain way before the neck problem. Maybe I should stop being an asshole and have a dr look at it before it progresses any worse. Good luck man, hope it turns out okay without your funds getting fucked too hard.
