I've got to agree with Cyberpedo here, DM is best when dirty/filthy/ancient and decayed-sounding. That doesn't mean that there aren't great tech death releases out there or that clean productions are terrible, but...if one is going to generalize...
RE: Cryptopsy, I'm just glad they didn't go back and re-record their old stuff with their "new" sound. Ugh. Maybe they did?

Re: Post albums you don't like that everyone else says rules
riff for riff, nsv obliterates everything else cryptopsy did. that's their effigy. they were always weak vocally but at least disalvo did a half-assed scott ruth impression that was at least laughable with lines like "muthafucka take a bite outta poison". other than "cold hate" and maybe one other tune, whisper is garbage. i remember a certain pinch harmonic being placed in a really humourous spot somewhere on that record but other that than they were trying way too hard to be brutal and obtuse. and then you'll beg was a return to the riffs but i bet most panned it when they saw the retarded album cover.

Yeah, but I still do. I bought it when it came out, listened to it once, didn't enjoy, and let it sit. I picked it up again a few months ago and gave it another listen. Thought maybe over time it would have grown on me or maybe I can appreciate it more now but that was not the case, still can't get into it. I'll try again in a few years, ha. I've noticed recently that it fetches some decent cash on EBay though. When I bought that thing, I got it about 2 weeks after it came out, used at my local metal store, and they had probably half a dozen of em for $6 each in the used bin. Should have bought em all. I knew I should have called Miss Cleo that day dammit!

Yeah, what a weak record. Does this mean that the weaklings who like this weak record have to post it in that other thread?Streven Adler wrote:hahahaha.. i actually liked it somewhat when it first came out. sounded different, but it didn't blow me away or anything. a couple years later i found a bunch of used copies of it at a shop going for like $3 apiece. i remembered thinking i had sold my copy so i bought one of them hoping it would sound better, which it didn't. found out a month later that i still had my original copy hiding in a box in a closet. sold both the next day.Tony Twist wrote:krudmonk wrote:Everyone hated this when it came out.zombiehead wrote:

i like big black songs about fucking a lot and some other industrial metal but i gave street cleaner a couple tries over the years and it never especially clicked with me. maybe i was just expecting something different and should try it yet again.

I wouldn't go so far to say I dislike this album - I do like it - but, I agree that it's horrendously overrated. I think Explosions In Ward 6 shits all over this one. Prowler... is a solid album, but not the band's magnum opus like so many seem to consider it to be.Tony Twist wrote:

For the record I dislike industrial as well, I just thought it was too ironic to pass up.

I can understand people hating lord worm (I personally like about half of his vocals) Have you heard Ungentle Exhumation? It's his best work. The low vocals are about the same but he does screams on it he never repeated on any other release. Unreal alien shrieks.Fung Tunt wrote:how the fuck anyone can tolerate cryptopsy with that shit huffing lord worm asshole is beyond me.stupidest fucking vocals ever...
