I really don't think you know how difficult this is to do. The math necessary to accomplish this might be simple-looking, but the statistical models and sheer signal processing tricks necessary to do this in an arbitrary boundary is more difficult than you think and certainly not intuitive AKA straight-forward. You can't just do straight energy functions and 1st differential gradient vectors and linearly weighted sampling anymore to generate these patches, and creating smooth transitions from the edges of disparate content is actually not simple either. Cutting out the pixels and blending them in is one part, but determining the appropriate sample window size to get sufficient data to perform the extrapolation is not easy. The basic paper that outlined the concepts of the previous generation is here. I assume that the newest, arbitrary method is now intellectual property of Adobe or the researchers that got hired by Adobe for it.
