Immortal in LA: roll call! traffic report? NYC report?

Post by Necrometer »

My buddy b-day gifted me a ticket for this show, and I'm sure it'll be a blast. Where the fuck is the NYC report, Vanessa?

Anyway, we're driving down on I-5 to 101, planning to get to Avalon in Hollywood by 7... googlemaps says 6 hours... LA drivers, exactly how fucking terrible is traffic going to be? Should we allow an extra hour? Two hours? Sup!

Extra hour or two? If it's LA traffic you might as well just double it!

Yeah, I'd give it at least 2 hours if you really wanna be there on time. That being said, the show will probably start an hour later than advertised. Parking is gonna be your real bitch around there.

Not sure if I am going or not yet. If someone posts a Battles In The North-heavy playlist, then I'm there with bells on.

Hahaha, thanks for support Bennett - I think Yosemite is the wise choice, ungrim as it is.

Leon, I read that it's an early show, over at fucking NINE!?!? to let the club still be a club that night? Oh west coast, always moving. Always shaking. So maybe we AIM TO get there at 6 for some chance of parking? Or something? Fuck my life.

Ryan, I'm OK with doubling the time, as long as it's not CANCELLED.

The whole concept of Immortal even coming anywhere near LA just seems horribly, horribly wrong.

I've heard that LA people are even worse than Scandinavians in terms of...fenrizing, you know...standing at the back with their arms crossed and yawning, totally bored.

Does Abbath still spit fire at shows? I only saw Immortal once and it was their first ever US show 10 years ago. Abbath was all ready to spit hot fire and then someone pulled him aside and told him it's a no-go so I never got to see it dammit.

5 south at the 210 is about where you start entering into Los Angeles.

I gave you the wrong exit because I come from the other direction, and I was thinking of the Vanguard.. Just set it to vine or franklin or whatever it is.

I'm all about that setlist - I like the false records the best (minus the new one).

And I understand that firebreathing is a no-go.

Travis I appreciate your attempt to help but that tool is pretty much useless. What order are those lists in? It's just total nonsense to a non-angelite.

Just click the fastest route button; unless the link works different for you than me, it's already set up.

thanks for info doader - I'm actually happy because this means I'll no longer be rolling to your place at 1 AM like a dick

my buddy's plans are all up in the air, he still doesn't know if we're having lunch with his cousin, and now maybe it's BRUNCH with cousin because buddy needs to be back north earlyish on saturday

hey speaking of waffling, if this dude's cousin doesn't totally cockblock our breakfast, maybe I bring the belgian waffle maker :dann:

how many big skillets do you have? we will need two twenty-inchers and I will bring one if necessary

ASSUMING non-cockblock

Haha, I was there at the side of the stage for that. The puller was actually Jack Koshik, infamous organizer of the Milwaukee Metalfests.

Ha! I've only heard this from people...I guess because LA guys get every band coming through there. I've never been to a show there, I wouldn't know...

Show was awesome. I think they played for 2 hours or an hour and a half, felt like 20 minutes. There were only 2 bands total so it was worthwhile. I was a bit shocked that so many people payed $45 bucks to see them. They totally killed it though. The sound was great, same venue Repulsion played at. They were playful and energetic the entire time. Would see again.

The ticket price violated my cheapskate sensibilities, so it looks like I'm going to break my wife's live black metal cherry with the Inquisition show in May.
