Looking at receivers. Stupid question - what's the difference between 5.1 channel and 7.1?

5.1 = 1 center channel, 2 front speakers, 2 rear speakers, 1 sub (that's where the .1 comes from)
7.1 = 1 center channel, 2 front speakers, 2 side speakers, 2 rear speakers, 1 sub

That's one of the main ones I'm looking at. It was $700+ at BestBuy. My BestBuy card currently has a $0 balance and they are offering 3 years no interest.
