I need some more death metal in my life
I gave up on most (if not all of it) of the stuff years ago, but recently I've been checking out bands I either overlooked or disliked in my younger years. Here is a list of death metal bands that I've found that suit my tastes for the stuff. Please feel free to recommend old and new bands alike. I am pretty much a total neophyte when it comes to this genre, so have at it.
To help guide you on your good deeds, these are the groups I've found myself enjoying:
Incantation
Asphyx
Suffocation (but only the Human Waste-era stuff)
Bolt Thrower
Entombed
From what I understand, Grave would be up my alley, but I havent heard them since I was 15, can't really remember what they sounded like.
I guess you could say that I'm into the dirtier, uglier sounding shit. So, if you're bored or feeling generous, help a brother out.
With any luck I'll go from to in no time.

Fuckin' I'd suggest early Usurper, like Skeletal Seasons and earlier, but I doubt you'd like it. You'll always have Black Breath

get that Convulse reissue right now!
also, I'd recommend Gorement - The Ending Quest. its sorta melodic, but has enough blastbeats to satisfy grind fans and brutal death fans alike.
Merciless - The Awakening might also be up your alley

Its hard to pick out individual songs. its mostly about the general atmosphere.zombiehead wrote:i haven't heard this in a while, so refresh my memory.. what songs have blastbeats?eyehatethehumanrace wrote: also, I'd recommend Gorement - The Ending Quest. its sorta melodic, but has enough blastbeats to satisfy grind fans and brutal death fans alike.

I'm currently seeing Ward as the male version of Vanessa A. This is not a good thing.

The list is endless. Start searching for lesser known gems from the swedish and finnish scenes. Screw modern death metal.
