I think thats awesome when you hear a song or have it recorded like that at an early age and down the road you finally discover what it is,
I used to listen to the collage radio here too when I was younger, (which later on I went on to DJ at myself) ...anyhow I would record some of their underground Metal shows (Radio Nightmares was its name), a lot of times just using the same tape over and over again, well there was this one song that I had on tape and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what it was - the tape cut right before I got the DJs playlist rundown, it was a Thrash Metal tune w/funny tuff lyrics like MOD but it wasn't MOD, well years later I finally discovered it was this:
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW

sweet.

that still happens to me

hell, i have still have most of the tapes
i've been putting them up on the internet and asking people what they are

wow, thats a great blog man, you took it to another level, I'll definitely check out some of those tracks see if anything rings a bell

I'm not sure... maybe some songs taped off the radio? I was a late bloomer when it came to music. My listeningmanship didn't mature until well after my high school daze.

I was kind of a late bloomer myself. I think I was just starting to get heavily into metal at 15/16. My mixtape probably would have been full of Black Sabbath and Ozzy songs. There would probably be some random things thrown in too, maybe a SOAD song or two. Or Primus. Or Metallica. I dunno.

I got back into ATR when they announced they were getting back together and The Future of War still sounds quite massive now, same for 60 seconds wipe out which is more melodic and noisy at the same time. Saw them at the Dour festival a couple of weeks ago and they just slayed for one hour! They also played that particular song, which was just amazing.

And thanks Hell-Haine, I was really into the french rock scene because of my brother. Now most of these songs sound too dated but it was a fun times, even though I didn't know anybody around me who listened to the same things.
