I really liked that Odz Manouk though I'm not sure why exactly. It's not that exceptional.

This group of bands really has not stuck out for me at all. The only thing I can ever remember from Black Twilight Circle is them naming their live shows rituals.

I think I've told the story on here before of meeting a band in Austin that recorded their demo on a Fisher Price tape recorder. He probably stole it from his little sister. She's sitting there crying and he's in his bedroom summoning Satan.
rofl!!

I should clarify and be less of a prick: I do like some of this stuff, but I don't think it's top-tier black metal like some other guys who promote this group of bands so much. Bored, you're the first guy I have come across with a real background in this stuff who likes these bands so much. I'm just used to B9 kids who like every black metal band they hear jumping on this bandwagon.

Tuukaria and Ashdautas are cool with me, Kuxan Suum was something I came around to a little late (meh...), and I think I could live the rest of my life without hearing most of these bands again. A lot of people (relatively) seem to like Volahn, but for as long as that group has been around, I just haven't really cared to listen to them again.

I'm checking out Blue Hummingbird on the Left because I have not heard this band yet. The beginning of this song does not inspire confidence.

Are these the bands on that Worship Black Twilight comp? That thing sucks.

Just that I don't think it's something that touches what bands like Katharsis, Dødsengel, Njiqahdda, Circle of Ouroborus, and a few other bands have done in the last five years. It's totally subjective, but I'm more than willing to cast my opinions' shadows over any objective reasoning or argument.

I won't disagree that this music is being written with some meaning, which is appreciated. I forgot about Arizmenda, which would be a great example for what you're saying. There are definitely some very emotional (subjective again) guitar parts that I could never designate as pretentious or a matter of going through the motions. It's moving enough to where I'm embarrassed that I forgot about them until about 15 posts in...

Mostly, yeah. Arizmenda is the only band I really like on there. Ashdautas is fine. The rest is for the birds as far as I'm concerned.

ya,sory aquarius bro but i gotta disagree with u there. ashdautas' best song theve ever ridden is on that comp, and the arizmenda song kills. 2 outta 10 songs isnt bad lol

1) No.

2) There is very little to be objective about in musical discussion, especially about bands twenty-something years into a genre. I'd rather just be reckless and argue subjectively.

3) The appreciation stems out of the feeling that the bands are being genuine. I'm sure you have had your fair share of words for the Fantanos of the world before.

4) Useless? On a music forum? Get outta here...

I just saw a whole bunch of these bands a week or two ago. They were ok. One of them was real good live, but I don't remember who. The rest were dull performance wise but had good songs. I didn't buy any tapes though.

Thanks for your contribution.
Haha, that was exactly what I thought after I posted. Oh well. But at the same time that sums up how I felt after seeing these bands. Nobody really blew me away and I didn't connect with what I seeing other than maybe 2 bands, and I can't even remember who they were anyway. Thanks for posting the link to that blog, I'll probably try and find the few bands that I did like.

like any sane person would, i really don't see the point of proselytizing on behalf of some collective that could probably or has probably over saturated itself, if it hasn't already. it's a shame too because the collective identity always overshadows the relative merits of the individual parts. i'd also be pretty screwed if i was paying any mind or attention to what tourists on hardcore message boards think about absolutely anything.

i think vordr used to be amazing.
