because HHH shows enthusiasm, but is also a big mouth that shot his pretentious wad all over BM creation which offended people, then again BM has had a history of people like this dating back to the liar known as Quorthon, it must be the hipster quotient (not to mention he looks girly, and more appropriate to front a band like Pierce the Veil) as well as being the figurehead in recent wave of non-BM rooted people taking their crack at BM, remember when the "most hated" band in Black Metal used to be Darkthrone or Burzum, or some other band with "sketchy" nationalistic leanings? now I guess all it takes to be BM enemy no 1 is to look like this guy...

The backlash wouldn't be as fierce if they actually wrote compelling music. They get exposure for all the wrong reasons (location, image, website associations, they carry Vanessa America's groceries, philosophical diahrrea, etc.). There are and have been much better bands that get passed over because they're on a small label, European, and/or sing about Satan too much. Liturgy is just in the right place, at the right time...the Anthony Fantanos of the music world are looking for something that makes them feel edgy yet is about as offensive as a pillow. Basically, black metal for people who constantly say this about metal, "Why do they scream all the time? I'd like this if it wasn't for the vocals."

honestly i find this band so irredeemably shitty that just my posting in this thread has caused me to greater appreciate a ton of black metal bands i would normally write off immediately because they don't appeal to me enough just by default. krallice still sucks though dudes.

I know. Their black metal coverage has really been slipping.
When I first heard Rennihilation or whatever fake word they used for the first Liturgy album, my first thought was that it sounded like Krallice with shittier riffs and way shittier production.
Bad riffs + bad vocals = bad metal. All the other bullshit surrounding this band is just icing on the cake.
