Wonder Woman kicked ass! I have no idea if this is all new shit or if it's some redux of something or what, but man. Awesome. Excited to see this!

Got about 4 pages into Blue Beetle. Fuck this shit. I loved the 06 series a lot, and I'm glad that the Jaime has gotten some recognition and spinoff stuff. What am I supposed to do with this, though? This is like when they remake some foreign horror movie a year after it's initial release. Blawalb.

Superboy and Supergirl both pretty cool. It seems like all the new Superman family stuff is good so far..? This makes me happy.

My favorite this week was definitely Swamp Thing. I'm very glad to see him back in his own series, I just hope there is limited interaction with the capes. I like those characters, but I also liked that ST was never really part of their world.

Action Comics comes in a close second. I liked the interview in the end with Grant/Rags. I like that they are taking superman back to his roots with his powers and whatnot.

Detective Comics was good, but I could see me just sticking with Batman.

I'm glad that I got my 2nd printing of Animal Man along with my issue 2. This is going to be a very cool series. I never read it the first time around, but this is going to prompt me to do so. Plus Brian Bolland is one of my favorite comic artists of all time, so that is always a plus.

The Frankenstein series kicks much ass so far. I absolutely love Ponticelli's artwork.

Have you read Seven Soldiers?? That series was pretty cool and all, a little rough in some weird ways, but the FRANKENSTEIN stuff from it fucking KICKED ASS.

I love Frankenstein and comic books :awesome: :awesome: :moreawesome:

I have not read Seven Soldiers.

I'd say overall the new 52 is a bust. There are some exceptional titles in there with Batman, Action Comics and Frankenstein but ho hum on most others. I don't know what the hell is going on with the rot crossover in Animal Man and Swamp Thing but it's already growing tiresome.

What a shocker, eh?

I dunno, I can't say I care either way. It was clear the whole thing was silly publicity stunt, and the DC titles I do read weren't adversely affected. Batman is great, the GL books are unaffected, and the new WW book is actually fantastic. Everything else I never cared about to begin with. I guess I could get all huffy about what they're doing to my beloved WS characters, but they got shat all over in the last incarnation of WS proper already, so... meh.

I find Ellis to be a bit hit or miss myself, especially some of the stuff he wrote for smaller publishers reads like he wrote it drunk in one night, then sold it and never cared about it again. But The Authority is the angry, inspired, driven Ellis constantly trying to come up with the next completely ridiculous and over the top image like thousands of cloned Asian superhumans falling from the sky and shit like that. Plus it's drawn by Bryan Hitch before he got boring and formulaic.
Hey spacehamster. It's 6 years later, but I just wanted to tell you that I finally read Stormwatch. Like, all of it - and then the entire Wildstorm universe.

I started with Ellis on Stormwatch, then did Planetary, then Millar on Stormwatch - and on and on.

It was beautiful. Helped contextualize a lot of other material that was popular immediately afterwards, like The Ultimates and Civil War - books very dear to me.

Thank you!

Ha, yeah, this stuff had far more of an impact than most people now realize. Especially if you consider the fact that these new Avengers movies are really Ultimates movies. I remember back when the first Authority book started, Ellis and Hitch were talking about doing a "widescreen" look and approaching the book like it was a big-budget movie, and now the big-budget movies are basically like those books.

It's weird, everyone seems to be talking about Wildstorm lately.

Ive been hanging out at the library and they have a pretty expansive comic collection. I cant get enough of anything thats written by Garth Ennis. Theres so much violence and depravity in those punisher and fury comics. Ill probably start reading preacher next and maybe alternate between Sin City and just stagger through bother series.

If you can get a hold of it, don't overlook the Ennis run on Hellblazer! I just read it this year and it fucking lit me up. It was like falling in love with Garth all over again.

Recent Thanos series spun-off a character named Cosmic Ghost Rider, which is the Punisher empowered with both the rider’s hell power and Galactus’ cosmic power. He’s also been driven Insane by stuff. While comedic and alternate universe it’s the only present comic book I care about anymore. I blame personal life things like time & age, but I can’t help but lay blame on Marvel & DC for making me not care anymore.
