writing team is iffy: the dude who wrote the first one teamed with a GREEN LANTERN writer

teaser looked great but I saw some terrible looking entertainment weekly set photos (but those always look terrible)

optimism is warranted but excellence is far from guaranteed

based on his track record i'd say no you're not. everything he's done up to this point, warts and all, has been really solid. i thought sicario was fantastic. in fact i'd wager he's good at working with just ok scripts and getting them into really fine shape for a glossy movie

even prisoners worked really well despite being a fucking mess

scarf is the true mark of the big budget arthouse mastermind

I guess aronofsky has been fucking jennifer lawrence

Fassbender is really a different character, which is cool

it doesn't look dumb so much as it looks like a completely unnecessary & diversionary rehash of everything we've already seen in these movies time and time again. it looks like a remake alien with some couples retreat shit thrown in. should've come out on valentines day

honestly if there's some deeply clever and interesting way of not dumping the weird prometheus stuff while doing all this other monster shit i will eat a pretty close to expired sandwich from somewhere i dont like to eat sandwiches from, on my honor as a man and boarder

totally agreed on all actor sentiments. I mean franco has non-offended me in certain roles but there's just no need for more than one cast member of pineapple express in basically any movie

and no way prometheus is much more than easter eggs in this movie. this movie is a departure from prometheus for the same reason donald trump is president, it's the same reason all the marvel movies are "good enough" but actually suck

Ross and FBTS's next level enthusiasm and expectations since this whole Prometheus thing fills me with warm feelings...thank you for your services. Some of your posts on the last page had some great insight into Engineer shit, but I think I gave up on expecting a sequel to Prometheus to run too far with the Lindelof stuff some time ago.

I'm resigned to the notion that the filmmakers of Alien at the time gave little thought as to what was going on beyond what was shown on screen, so whatever they did in Prometheus and this one isn't necessarily "canon" to me. If any of their new ideas are the least bit interesting, and I thought Prometheus had some, I won't be too unhappy...as long as it's a Giger-Lovecraftian slasher fuckfest, xenomorph rehashing be damned. But maybe I just have more hope that it won't depart THAT far from Prometheus as you guys think it will, I dunno.

The casting is already annoying me, so did some of those community theater actors in Prometheus.

even if the movie is a re-skin of the first one, I do like some of what I've (accidentally) seen. the neomorphs (heh) seem pretty cool and true-to-Giger... but that didn't stop people from bitching about them being different. I think already posted this... should probably shut up 'til I see the movie
