I guess the issue is that good art comes from a place of authenticity, and in our-scene-in-air-quotes-because-hahaha-no-way-do-I-consider-myself-as-having-anything-to-do-with-some-guy-that-owns-several-Infest-shirts, the expression of anger/ferocity plus corporations seems incongruent

And I can generally see where this is coming from and generally agree with it; a lot of the problems of the world are symptomatic of multinationals and their impact on politics and economics, and importantly the societies that always bear the load of such corporatist structures

That said, I think it's a bit conclusory to say that corporate involvement instantly undermines the authenticity of the artist; I cannot imagine a situation wherein Masami Akita's performance at a fest run by a car company somehow compromises his environmental views, and it's really baseless to claim as much

Really all I'm saying is that you gotta laugh at rigidity in a group that so vociferously opposes rigidity in most other situations 8)

I know of at least one DIY grind band who were requested to provide a mix without vocals for consideration for use in a Scion commercial, so it is just a matter of time.

I know a band that got kicked off a Scion label showcase festival because they covered (not even recorded, just live, and years ago) Crush the Jewish Prophet by Inquisition. If that's not the fucking dumbest thing I've ever heard, I don't know what is. I mean they put out a fucking IMMOLATION album. Not exactly PC fucks regarding religious tolerance.

In Scotty's defence he is pretty much constantly stoned'.

He's probably own multiple properties nowadays if he hadn't discovered drugs and kill your mother music.

There is barely a difference. Crush the Christian Prophet? That's cool. Crush the Jewish Prophet? Not cool.

Dude, what world do you live in where a company not actively trying to get boycotted can be associated with someone who at one time or another put "crush" and "Jewish" in the same sentence? It's not fair, but it's pretty easy to take for granted.

As far as Immo are concerned, they're generally a little more subtle with their song titles.

Down should be playing the slot that's...

I'm amused at my initial reaction "Repulsion and Merzbow have overlapping sets... WHAT WERE THE ORGANIZER'S THINKING!!"
