That Ministry video is embarrassing, as is the lyrics that seem like they're written by a 9th grader. The music is pretty reminiscent of Psalm 69 and Filth Pig, so it's not that offensive to me? But goddamn, those lyrics (and video) make it unlistenable.

I was going to say that EBA should try listening to Meantime or Betty to see what Helmet was like, but decided against it for that very reason. It's weird, because I saw Helmet in late '95 and they played some new material which sounded great. But by the time the next album (Aftertaste) came out, it sounded antiquated compared to Fixation on a Co-Worker which I had been listening to for a while.

I listened to Aftertaste this morning, something I considered pretty mediocre... and it's not bad. It's funny to hear how much Floor/Torche ripped the vocal harmonies in retrospect.

I don't think any of you guys are crass enough to listen to melodic death metal lately, but this Kalmah song talks about jesus christ (literally name-drops the guy) and has the line "hip hip hooray / glory to the human race"

that song is NOT a skip for me, so I guess it takes a lot for the lyrics to tip the scales
