Re: Sci Fi Speed Dating
You'll pick me everytime, girl.
I would probably get kicked out because I would want to deride other geeks' tastes and lay back behind my aviators a la Torsion's douchebag shades thread. "Oh, so you're into Babylon 5 or whateva? That shit is gay, bro. "
Tell me more about Mark Sanchez getting kicked out of Speed Dating.

He was a Mikey Macaroni thick neck type who kept making snide remarks before the whole thing started. After the third date, he apparently complained that these ladies weren't feelin him so Ryan told him to get out and applause ensued. Thankfully, this was all before it was my turn with him.

Yeah, you can kind of tell with that show, they're really trying to pick out the most extreme examples of socially inept people, and even the obese Star Wars cosplayer chick really comes across as relatively normal and well-adjusted.copstache wrote: as dudes, we somewhat have the advantage that, in my experience, the balance of failcave to normal geek girls is of a higher quality than the dudes.

Aww she seems sweet and mostly undamaged. She'll do fine.

if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

She seems sweet but I feel like I could sum her up as an ellipsis in a thought bubble.

I would get out at the first sign of a cthulhu slipper, or even if it didn't smell moldy.

Re: Sci Fi Speed Dating
I work in a kindergarten, and I have to take off my shoes when I get to work. I am seriously considering asking for a pair of those Cthulhu plushy slippers for my birthday so I can wear them at work, because I think the little kids would get a kick out of it despite not actually realizing what they are. Does this make me a terrible person?

No, if my kindergarden teacher had cthulhu (or in my 5 year old brain just monster slippers), I probably would have loved it. Although, I don't know how the culture is over there about that kind of thing.

they're more cutesy than scary... which is why all the real Lovecraft fans hate them... but fuck it, I like cutesy shit as well as unrelenting terror

2013: the year we wondered if Cthulhu slippers are appropriate kindergarten teacher attire.

Re: Sci Fi Speed Dating
oh, they're appropriate in terms of exposing the kids to them... I'm just wondering if having a pair in my possession would require me to surrender any level of respect that any non-fuckwitted people might still have for me
