Apparently the two theories out there are that it's either that or she's Kylo Ren's sister, which makes no sense to me. She has to be related to the Skywalkers somehow because she has the Force, there's the whole thing where Luke's lightsaber is apparently calling out to her, and her entire arc so far mirrors Luke's - right down to a scene with a setting sun in the desert. So yeah, I'm going with that.

She is definitely somebody. I would bet she is Luke's daughter.
She was left on Jakku by somebody for a reason, although she clearly doesn't know it - just like Luke.

The dialogue when she first met BB8 on Jakku was pretty telling for me:

Rey: "So where do you come from?"
BB-8: "Bleep blop boop boewwweeep!"
Rey: "Classified, really? Me too, big secret."

That would be pretty cool too. And I guess it's possible that the obvious parallels between her and Luke's stories are red herrings. But I think the next two movies revolving around look and Han's children being mortal enemies and the respective representatives of light/dark is too sweet of a setup for that not to be the plan.

I was actually relieved when he was a hologram, as giant space Leper was a bit too far in the menagerie for me.

The part I hated the most was when they go to Nu-Canteena to get some information and it just so happens to be the place that Anakin/Luke's fucking Light Saber is. For the LOVE OF FUCK guys, can we at least get a whole sequence where such an important artifact is found again instead of having someone wander downstairs from a bar, open a trunk and say, "Oh, hey-- a super important object to the entire plot and franchise!". I sorta felt the same way about how both the Falcon and Han were introduced into the story. Also, the Death Star thing was WAY too close in plot to New Hope.

Other than that, I thought it was pretty awesome. I like Ren and I'm totally fucking jealous that by the end she gets to be both Han Solo and Luke Skywalker at once-- 8 year old me never thought you could be both.

My girlfriend and her sisters didn't like Darth Emo, but I actually did. He's kind of a shitty Sith, and I think that's on purpose. He's barely in control and he's not at all the same kind of scary bad-ass that most of the other Sith's have been. He's petulant and almost got his ass handed to him by a totally untrained newbie to the force (Yes, I know he was hurt, but still). I think Snoke is more of a conman than a Sith Lord. I think Solo was telling us the plot when he said Snoke is using you for your power to Darth Emo. I think it's evident by the proto-light saber he wields and the fact that his power seems unrefined, unfocused and not super intimidating that he hasn't been properly trained by anyone. Snoke is probably no Force user, just a Wizard of Oz figure is my guess. And I think that relationship would be far more interesting than another dark lord/apprentice one. I just really like that Darth Emo isn't this unstoppable force like Vader seemed to be. He's fragile and broken and doesn't seem to have a great handle on the Force.

I welled up a bit when I saw Chewie in the Falcon without Han. :'(

I agree it had its flaws (many more than I could recall before reading this thread) but maybe it was just the shallow happiness of seeing all original characters together again. Either way I'm not complaining and it was $12 very well spent.

Finally saw it. So much to take in...I need to see it again. 8/10
