I guess this counts as modern vernacular... if you were born in Carthage or Assyria.
It seems to be the preferred social media finishing move of vacuous bitches who want to end/avoid an argument or be a peaceful moderator in someone else's feud. Total iceberg lettuce phrase, basically no better than writing, "Hi, I'm talking!"

Extra

This one has been brewing for a while but it seems to have officially taken over the public vocabulary

Please give me an example. I've already reached crotchety old man status trying to retrain the world on the use of epic. I don't think my heart can take extra.

tryna

context clarification: text only (i don't give a shit if you can't pronounce "trying to"), at its most obnoxious when white people do it.

Not to play Devil's Meatgrease, but I've always found singling out white people tends to end up being more of an insult to non-whites. It's essentially saying, when white people do something it's "extra" bad because they should know better because black people can't help that they're illiterate morons.

whoa easy now Bill.. when it's typed, it's *always* obnoxious, with like 22 yo white girls on instagram being the most obnoxious offenders, but just by a bit. it's not really about "knowing better" or the word "tryna" being moronic in and of itself, just the difference between affectation and a natural way of speaking.

this is like a bat signal for meatgrease and I'm nervous

like if I went back to 1800 I wouldn't want to punch every guy with a handlebar mustache, but I can just barely restrain myself in the year of our lord 2017

if that makes sense

I've noticed the present crop of kids (male and female) do this around the age of 10. I had to watch one during a play date and I kept mocking and admonishing him every time he "righted". He never got it.
