Mine's mostly due to not giving a fuck every so often and eating like a garbage disposal and then physically realizing I'm not 8 anymore soon afterward

Re: the NOT WORTH ITS OWN THREAD thread could be revived
I puked about 2 or 3 times last year but that was when I was still a borderline alcoholic. My tolerance had built up to the point where I wouldn't puke or be hung over anymore so it would like a lot to get to the point of vomiting. I'm a real lightweight with weed though so I can get cross faded easily with a few drinks and then it's upchuck city.
There's the life and there's the consumer event.

i can make myself vomit without having to jam shit down my throat. i threw up so much last night cause i ate too much and felt like shit trying to sleep. vomiting has become a ritual and its not even hard or annoying anymore

all models are wrong; good models are useful
did you read my recent spazzing in this thread? I think I said some dumb things about time being an illusion that gerard 't hooft certainly wouldn't agree with

Probably; Just reread. What thread should we move to?
But how can seeing a false reality be beneficial to an organism’s survival?
There’s a metaphor that’s only been available to us in the past 30 or 40 years, and that’s the desktop interface. Suppose there’s a blue rectangular icon on the lower right corner of your computer’s desktop — does that mean that the file itself is blue and rectangular and lives in the lower right corner of your computer? Of course not. But those are the only things that can be asserted about anything on the desktop — it has color, position and shape. Those are the only categories available to you, and yet none of them are true about the file itself or anything in the computer. They couldn’t possibly be true. That’s an interesting thing. You could not form a true description of the innards of the computer if your entire view of reality was confined to the desktop. And yet the desktop is useful. That blue rectangular icon guides my behavior, and it hides a complex reality that I don’t need to know. That’s the key idea. Evolution has shaped us with perceptions that allow us to survive. They guide adaptive behaviors. But part of that involves hiding from us the stuff we don’t need to know. And that’s pretty much all of reality, whatever reality might be. If you had to spend all that time figuring it out, the tiger would eat you.

my wax museum thread is gone
fuck life
this board vanishing is the most terrifying harbinger of impending decrepitude (and I'm sure that thread is gone, too)

Guy who moved in across the street with the “stomp your flag I’ll stomp your ass” decal was rubbing his monstrous F 350 down with a sham wow. He looks like a 60 year old reject from north west choppers or sons of guns

Re: the NOT WORTH ITS OWN THREAD thread could be revived
we were locked into driving down to disney world next month with the kids—until we took a drive to chicago for an overnight on thursday, and returned last night
the boy got carsick and barfed all over himself; the middle child was just an asshole; the oldest woke up when i pumped gas on the way home and started scream-crying to where my wife had to crawl into the back and calm her down
not to mention our hotel conveniently neglected to mention that like everything was under renovation, including the front desk area, and so even though the room was fine enough i guess (beds sucked, but that's standard for hotels; could hear the elevator and everybody's plumbing through the wall; one of the window shades was broken so it was stuck at 20% open), there was basically nothing else to distinguish this "hotel" from a "single-room occupancy where you can rail a hooker with views of lake michigan"
booked the shit out of american airlines as soon as we got home; thank christ disney property resorts are opulent nonsense highlighting the income disparity in this country
