I don't have any people inside Porter that can give me any hot goss (the people I know at Kirkland are more bemused than amused by the inept legal fight they're in) but a statement like that might be suggestive of this: Porter's attorneys got wind of some facts-suggesting-other-unconfirmed-facts that would have been fatal to the case, and rather than risking sanctions, they bounced so they didn't have to tank the case altogether

it was a video from a "gay black man" who was going to bat for some dumbass politician, to get him out of hot water.
this is what initially happened - seemed to be true:
the politician claimed that he accidentally posted the REAL testimony from a real gay black man, and then the video at top appeared, in hopes to confirm that story
