Is everyone excited for the new Phobia tomorrow? Are there any really good anti-Trump albums it's up against? Can't Leon just go ahead and unlock their Bandcamp early?
I saw this dude working at a coffee shop wearing a filosofem shirt the tuesday after charlottesville and thought "too soon, man" even though I'd listened to that record super recently
have you guys been reading the metalsucks/decibel back&efforts about whether we should be pushing for boycotts of pro-fascist metal? i love matt harvey & his politics and my gut agrees with him that we should NOT, but his "metal is apolitical" argument was not too compelling.
theres a lot to say and feel about so called underground musics place in the broader scope of the moment and of everything going on globally. i have a lot of feelings about it obviously too. the worlds been changing so fast, and thats before we even had violent nazis marching in american cities i'm sure others on the board have a lot to say about it as well but also who really has the fucking time and energy?! i am bored as fuck by myself and my thoughts just typing this post. the best thing that will ever happen to nygothizbluzjhkfsa is to get attacked by overzealous liberal people. that shit without controversy would be gone down the internet pre-memory hole before we even had a chance to learn how to pronounce it
hard right inflected metal music and art only really functions as part of an excluded whole that seems absolutely necessary to the ecosystem but can never be allowed to truly thrive and flourish even by its own stated standards about how the world should be, its literally nonsensical the more serious it is. the harder you push on the fascist edge of things the more absolutely clear it is that theres no place for the perverse/rotten/rebellious/beautiful core of metal in those politics. it just seems so gay and tiresome and obvious to an extent i'm amazed people dont grow out of it faster.

I was kinda floored when this stuff hit home and the hippies got a marduk show in oakland canceled ... like, how desperate for stuff to protest are you that you're shutting down a marduk show?

this feels pretty brilliant. devil's advocate response that I can't help: a lot of these alt-right kids see the feminist/globalist/leftist/socialist stranglehold on society the same way that the 80s rebels saw the power of christianity, so maybe there's some sincere rebellion in there. it's only accessible to the extremely stupid...

People, especially those not into metal, need to be careful to not call out bands for being "nazis." It's like a witch hunt. Some blogging asshole listed Bolzer as a nazi band recently.
