thank goodness kevin and leon worked so hard to embed an emergency backup version of AIM into the forum's code
just hit alt+F4 to bring it up, and sign in using your classic AIM username; I'm explodinggrandma - hit me up

I'm not emotionally prepared for this. It's fucking me up bad.
1. It took like 4 hours but I finally got a verison of AIM working on my desktop.
2. I tried unsuccessfully to recover/sign on to my Eight Bit Alien account; no go.
3. I will be signed in as Telnet4000 until the cutoff date. Until the bitter fucking end.

Dear AIM user,
As a reminder, AIM will be discontinued in 10 days and will no longer work as of December 15, 2017. Before December 15, you can continue to use the service. As of December 15, you will no longer have access to AIM and your data will be deleted. If you use an @aim.com email address, your email account will not be affected and you will still be able to send and receive email as usual.
