release a competing version under CRANOM, but record it like rain dogs, with baritone saxophones and marimbas and shit
Move along Paulo's boss. Nothing to see here.

You are on the right track buddy!Necrometer wrote:some cretin called my lyrics "gay gothic poetry" like 10 years ago... maybe this is progress
That cover art is fucking great. I am loving the shit out of these riffs.Necrometer wrote:two of my uncles were in a band called Decimator around 1990 and I finally transferred their six-track demo tape to MP3. I didn't have the gear to do this properly, so it sounds far from ideal. if you want to hear some big-four-worship, dig in...

can you guess which two are my uncles!?
bonus of me in Decimator shirt ca. 1993
I am loving the clean vocal parts, and the guitars sound amazing. That lead guitar melody part starting at 1:20 isNecrometer wrote:
lyrics:my latest song - none of these will apparently ever be truly done but this one is the closest. it's the first time I re-amped guitars and it worked pretty well; not too technically difficult and it's a much improved tone vs. simulated distortion. I had my uncle help with mixing (he was NOT happy about me having a "center" guitar in addition to L&R ). there's a lot of attempted clever (in reality: overwrought!) stuff going on here but it still doesn't add up to much since I don't have any intuition or skill for movement. that's my big goal for the next song...SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
I think about this sort of shit more often than you'd think - also, the acoustic guitars playing that resolving pentatonic scale (see 2:40) would have been accompanied (or replaced!) by flute & sax if I'd been motivated enough to follow through with my dreams of recruiting labmates as guest musicians...Toilet Fleet wrote:release a competing version under CRANOM, but record it like rain dogs, with baritone saxophones and marimbas and shit
Most of the music I come up with on my own just naturally comes out steeped in thrash so Decimator was right up my alley. I've listened to it 3 times already, that is a killer band!Necrometer wrote:hey, thanks a lot for the kind words! I'd definitely call the chorus a chorus the riffs in this one were written over the span of a decade or something, so I think that helped add a little bit of variety - but I also had a good sense of the underlying narrative for the whole thing, so I'm glad that ended up feeling cohesive in the end
and I'm glad you decided to click on the Decimator thing - that tape was a staple of my teenage years. in case it wasn't obvious, an ex-Decimator uncle mixed that song of mine

So about a year ago I participated in this weird thing where they randomly select who you'll be in a band with and then give you 30 minutes to write a song and 30 minutes to record it. The theme of the song is randomly selected by a bucket hooked up to a vacuum on reverse with a bunch of ping pong balls.
This was our jingle for Busch Non-Alcoholic beer.
This is catchy as hell.Necrometer wrote:added a www. to unbreakAssplay!!! wrote:
