Made me giggle a few times, but all in all I guess I wasn't in the right mood for it? Will watch it again with a mate who's a great fan of the retarded Flash Gordon film.
The right mood for a so bad it's good movie involves a few drinks and some friends.

I'm worried about trying Samurai Cop 2 though, as the whole reason I enjoyed 1 was the magic of unintentional comedy. Part 2 is bound to be too self aware.
I hear ya. Apparently, that one Japanese dude ("Are you Fuj...*slight confusion* Fujiyama?") turns up again in the sequel, and the fact that his name is Fuj Fujiwara had me chuckle like an idiot

edit: ah shit, I meant the Boss of the Katana gang of course!

The Good Mother - 3
A Thousand Acres - 6.5

I'm trying to watch more forgotten or obscure 80s and 90s movies. I have so many I've bought recently but it's hard to keep up. Anyways I picked these kind of randomly. Both movies featured Jason Robards which is weird. On top of that, I made my roommate watch Quick Change, Dream a Little Dream and Parenthood a couple of months ago and he was in those a as well. All unintentional. Anyways, I watched "Country" recently w/ Jessica Lange so I decided to put in "A Thousand Acres" which is another hick farm movie she was in. I preferred Country by a mile but this had its charm. "The Good Mother" was fucking weird. I thought it was going to be a cute Diane Keaton movie but it turned out to be about Liam Neeson being a child molester movie. Actually, Jason Robards ends up being a child molester in "A Thousand Acres" as well. weird.

The monster squad - 8.5/10. I had never seen this as a kid and figured it would suck now but... boredom and booze. This rules pretty God damn hard. Impressed

Class of 1999 - 8/10
Class of 1984 was very entertaining Reagan-era paranoid reactionary propaganda B-movie bullshit. This sequel presents the exact opposite ideological viewpoint and is even more entertaining. This and the fact that he made Commando make me want to see all of Mark Lester's films.

Yup, it's classic status is totally deserved. Could have been half an hour shorter though, and the German terrorists (lol wut) are pretty retarded (I actually share Alan Rickman's character's last name... :fp: ). Why does their boss sound like a distinguished actor from the Royal Shakespeare Company half of the time?

Hex (1980) - 6/10
Ok-ish Shaw Brothers horror film. Pretty slow, sometimes silly, but the last 15 minutes offer one of the most spectacular pairs of breasts I have ever seen, plus somebody gets their ears ripped off. Because I'm such an excellent poster and a team player, I hereby include a link to said tit scene:

Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - 8/10
Gorier than I expected, fantastic special effects all around, not a minute too long.

Rush     /5
Highly entertaining Italian "postapocalyptic" trash bullshit from 1983. This was everything that Samurai Cop was supposed to be.

Yeah I wasn't super impressed by this either, and I like James Gunn. It was a little sloppy and weird. I figure I'll give it the old covid-production excuse, and then give the general reaction the same treatment since people are starved for anything new.

BUT BACK TO WHAT I WAS SAYING

Three from Hell - 2
Lords of Salem - 5
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) - 8
Body Snatchers (1993) - 7, fucking awesome practical FX, shaky script but really fucking fun movie
Puppet Masters (1994) - strong 4
Cast a Deadly Spell (1991)- 7
Dr Strangelove - 10
The Day the Earth Stood Still - 9
Bruiser (2000) - 6, this is a complicated one and someday I'll make a long post about it which nobody will read

Terminator: Dark Fate - 7 (This isn't as shitty as people say)
Terminator Genesys - 5 (See above)
Terminator Salvation - 6 (This is worse than people say, fucking retarded Helena Bonham Carter AI bullshit)
Terminator 2 - 10
The Terminator - 10

Planet Terror - 7/10, very fucking fun, expected this to be a little weaker on the rewatch but it surprised me, didn't go sour on the shelf at all. I forgot how fucking perfect and bizarre all the characters are, especially Freddy Rodriguez. Rewatching Rose McGowan in these sexpot roles is something I've avoided for a little while, I thought it would just be too weird and uncomfortable given everything that's happened. That feeling wore off pretty quickly though, which was a relief.

Terse report on my S. Craig Zahler binge -

Bone Tomahawk - 8/10 (strong 8 )
Dragged Across Concrete - 9/10 (weak 9)
Brawl in Cell Block 99 - 10 out of fucking 10

I'm gonna go buy some of this nigga's books. I can't fucking get enough of this guy. I was impressed by Bone Tomahawk when it came out, jesus fuckin christ I'm glad the guy got more work after that. I can't believe they held that production company afloat long enough to get this work out.

1. You have to be patient
2. You might fuckin hate it anyway, this shit isn't gonna work for everyone, and i don't mean that in a hipster "you won't get it" way. I'm sure you will, just positive that it won't interest many potential viewers.
