Litany of the Long Sun - 7/10

Wasn't too in love with Wolfe's writing style on this one. However it's a very well realized and detailed world. He definitely throws in some legit crazy signature sauce here.

The Wild Bunch: Making of A Legendary Film

Generally enjoyed it and had plenty of neat stories but it kind of felt a bit too rambling.

Scumfucker wrote: Tue Oct 12, 2010 6:31 pm You Bright and Risen Angels - William T Vollmann. 10/10 This is his first book. A sort of sci-fi/ allegory about nature(bugs) v technology(electricity) as warring factions. Beautifully written. One of the most unique books I've ever read. Inspired by the time Vollmann spent living with the mujahedeen.
I finally finished this after reading it for over a month ( I probably finished 4 or 5 other books in between ) 775 pages with maybe 5% only being dialogue. I don’t think I enjoyed it as much as Mr Fucker did, it did become more enjoyable the second half. Read a bit like Against The Day mixed with Williams S Burroughs gunslinger trilogy ( that might just be because those Burroughs novels are fresh in my mind, some of the bizarre science fiction stuff felt similar ).

Epiphany of the Long Sun - 6

Not great. A real struggle in the last third tbh with some total eye rolling moments. Wolfe is a master at writing in different voices but this just didn't do it for me, especially with all of the potential he set up in Litany. Short Sun next!

Apologies if you already said this, but I can barely keep his books straight (and they’re not easy to search since sometimes two books are in a single book)…
1. Have you ready all the books in the series published before epiphany?
2. Is there any point where quality goes downhill?

I read the 4 New Sun books, and have been tempted to start the Long Sun.
