“The Passion According To G.H.” - Clarice Lispector 7/10. Feels like reading something in between Thomas Bernhard and Sartre. I think I prefer her to either.

I started reading “Nova” by Samuel Delaney. There are characters in it who talk like Yoda. This was published nine years before Star Wars was in theaters.

EDIT: there’s also a poison tooth, but “Dune” predates this by a few years

“Vanishing Point” - David Markson

For some reason I enjoyed this much more than “This Is Not A Novel” even though they are virtually identical. Maybe because this one is more obviously a meditation on death.

“A Brief History Of Seven Killings” - Marlon James 8.8/10

“Jesus’ Son” - Denis Johnson 7.7/10

I’m thinking of doing nonfiction November

I have in mind: “And The Band Played On”, “Fear And Loathing On The Campaign Trail 72” and “Fight…” ( Eugene Robinson)

Not sure if I’ll get through all three as there’s other odds and ends I’m trying to finish plus “The Recognitions”

I started Eugene Robinson’s “Fight…” book. It’s fun but kind of feels like one of TNBW’s tall tales.

I don’t think I’ve read anything more suffocating.

What the fuck did I just read. A farce in the form of H.P. Lovecrafts Necronomicon reconstructed as a fake academic thesis. Or something like that, I guess.

“Magnetic Field(s) - Ron Loewinsohn 9/10
Reads like a more focused DFW

“Phantoms” - Dean Koontz 7/10
This was mentioned in “Cyclonopedia” I recently read which is the only reason I decided to check it out. Was better than his usually schlock. The concept of a life form that is a mimic being able to absorb the collective intelligence and evil of humanity was interesting. This got made into a movie with Ben Affleck and Rose McGowan that is the epitome of late 90’s early 2000’s garbage.

Hyperion

Been a long time. Trying to trick my brain into reading books again. I guess Dan Simmons sucks now. I don't know much about it.

I'm trying to get through Satantango before I (possibly) subject myself to a seven hour long movie. It's under 300 pages but feels like ten thousand.
