One day this week our dryer sounded like a power drill struggling against oak; bought and installed all the usual replacements (idler pulley, rollers, belt), no improvement. Ear test makes me think something either fell into the motor or dislodged in it, to fix is just insane amounts of trial and error (or a $100 replacement part, plus the constant disassembly/reassembly to do troubleshooting the right way).
