Bands that had one good album...

Post by cxwx »

... and the rest of their output is subpar in comparison

Goatwhore - “Eclipse Of Ages Into Black”

Sepsism - “To prevail In Disgust”

I’m tempted to say Cephalic Carnage “Exploiting Dysfunction”. I wouldn’t say their other albums are lousy or even bad, they just never grabbed me the same way.

Speaking of Goatwhore, I'd say Soilent Green - Sewn Mouth Secrets.

Decapitated - Winds of Creation

No diss to the rest of their stuff really but it's night and day how generic it sounds compared to that near-perfect first one.

Pussysoul is great.

Good songs, but only one solid album:
Faith No More - Angel Dust

Gang of Four - Entertainment

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust

Angelcorpse - The Inexorable - Everything else they did before or after just felt kind of in one ear out the other but every song on this album fucking rips and has great riffs and hooks.

I need to listen to Pussysoul again. It's been a long time.

Faith No More are my favorite "Best Of" band where their Best Of compilation is better than any single album, excluding Angel Dust.

I like Lucid but ExDx just seems to have something special. Conforming to abnormality has some moments but the first Relapse album just seemed to be in a zone. The guitar tone was just really thick in a way I don’t think had been produced before or since, it’s almost HM2 ish but with much more beef, and all the weird little twist and turns, they basically invented the template for deathcore while getting none of the credit and being better than act actual deathcore band because deathcore sucks

I don't think they belong here because both albums are good.
Lucid just seemed to fit together more cohesively, and had my favorite songs.

I don't listen to anything past "Lucid Interval" but "Exploiting Dysfunction" is my least favorite of theirs from "Conforming..." to "Lucid..."

That first album it's like a ton of bricks, everything is scooped as fuck so the chugs are extra heavy. Depending on my mood, I love both "Conforming..." and "Lucid..."

"Exploiting..." doesn't really do anything for me.

Every nu-metal band (According to every caucasian man I grew up with who got into music seriously and played an instrument very well)

Korn sucks (Nah man the first album was good)
Static-X sucks (Nah man the first album was good)
Slipknot sucks (Nah man the first album was good)
Mudvayne sucks (Nah man the first album was good) (plus elaborate theory-myth that they were actually wonderful musicians who were forced to sound, perform and dress like that by The Corporations)
Kittie absolutely fucking sucks (Nah man the first album was good)
