I've used it for all kinds of trips, it's perfect for about anything I ever do. I backpacked with it for about 2 months on the Appalachian Trail last year. It's comfortable as hell, fairly light weight, and like Black Jacques was saying, it just has one main compartment with one other smaller one. I have an external frame with tons of pouches on it and it almost never gets used.
