Seriously, thank you Pantera for occupying my time so thoroughly during the nu metal era. I could have liked Meshuggah. but I chose you!

probably glam fags and female fans of the band when they were just a local act.Funeral_Rapist wrote:I always wondered if anyone actually likes the old pantera and hated it when they changed.

Re: Everybody here hates Pantera
Their old stuff is hardly glam metal...it was melodic heavy metal (very Judas Priest like at times). Just because it was the mid-80s and they looked like a stereotypical metal band, everyone thinks they were glam. Have you even heard that stuff?eyehatethehumanrace wrote:probably glam fags and female fans of the band when they were just a local act.Funeral_Rapist wrote:I always wondered if anyone actually likes the old pantera and hated it when they changed.

Anyway, don't get all butthurt that I don't like Pantera. BILLIONS have never even fucking heard them, and I bet at least 99% of those BILLIONS of people wouldn't like them, even if they're both "tuff" and "troo". Deal with it instead of making a stink at 3:30 in the morning on the internet.

"Cemetery Gates" actually came on the radio while I was at work this morning. If there's a better excuse for air pinch harmonics at 7am, I dunno what it is.

I like Pantera, but cemetary gates is hella overrated. Floods owns damn near everything.

It sounds like Soilent Green if they covered Pantera songs. I'm pretty sure most of that album was recorded on a herion binge with Seth PutnamTeufel wrote:Really? I think you're mostly right about the junk and Seth, but I WISH it sounded like SG covering Pantera; that might be coolzombiehead wrote:It sounds like Soilent Green if they covered Pantera songs. Stock answer to topic: Dime was a great player, I dug "VDoP" back then, but this band hasn't aged well at all IMO. Shitty production/tones,. too

Re: Everybody here hates Pantera
They're one of those bands that I can't listen to objectively enough to really critique ... I know Phil's a dickbag and the production had that weird 90s treble-y reverb thing going on to varying degrees, but as soon as I hear "Shedding Skin" I'm a pissed off fourteen year old again and it's awesome. I wish Soilent Green had aged like that for me.Ogre of Disgust wrote:Stock answer to topic: Dime was a great player, I dug "VDoP" back then, but this band hasn't aged well at all IMO. Always loved Dime's tone, though. It's so *wrong*, but it works.
