X-Men First Class 7.5/10 - Much better than expected. I could see this becoming its own prequel trilogy.

Super 8 - 7.8 - I think Eberts review was actually spot on in basically summing it up as far from perfect but really fucking entertaining. I felt like a kid again watching a Spielberg classic and had an awesome time watching the movie. The downside is the story is all over the fucking place and doesn't explain a god damned thing. This isn't a huge problem for me but don't expect some awesome story or explanation. It's just about the experience of digesting whats in front of you and what you did get was awesome.

Elle Fanning was great and will soon be one of the biggest stars in the world. I wish their was more Kyle Chandler but the kids were actually pretty engaging and the annoying fatty played his part really well.

Far from great but the action is definitely worth watching, I'd give it a strong recommendation.

I LOLed pretty good at

The Guardian 7.9/10

This movie ruled. I dunno how they managed to get so gory with a movie about a Druidic Tree thing, but it was badass.

Best way to put it. The CG effects on the pacman things at the end are like insta-facepalm no matter how prepared I think I am for it.

I agree with all the criticisms of True Grit above but I still give it an 8.5.

Re-Animator Oblivion: 5/10, blah, Some good gore effects, but stop it now. No reason the original master piece needs to be extended. Two was horrible. When you can actually make a great HP Lovecraft tale into a great movie, stop right there and just admire the work.

Netflix instant underground viking metal double featvre:

Severed Ways - 7/10. A little too long and boring in places, but the soundtrack earns mega kvlt points, and fuck you, vikings.

Valhalla Rising - 9/10. Just awesome. The atmosphere, the scenery, the starkness of the violence; a wonderfully grim and frostbitten movie if ever there was one.
