I don't think its impossible. I think their needs to be a balance of regression and progression to be discovered.

Thoughts on the new Disma album? I know most of it is rerecorded songs, but...

You can't pull that the originals are all you need stance when you name drop a band as bland and dull as Dark Castle.Mike Turbo wrote:Dark Castle is the newest band I've come across that I really like. Everyone flipped out over Ulcerate..what's the point though, I'll just listen to Gorguts.

It's not the the originals are all I need, I'd love some new music, there's just not much that stands out as different. I don't get the opinion of Dark Castle being bland and dull, they don't sound like anyone to my ears.Wang Mandu wrote:You can't pull that the originals are all you need stance when you name drop a band as bland and dull as Dark Castle.Mike Turbo wrote:Dark Castle is the newest band I've come across that I really like. Re: Any good new death metal out there?
I've seen this band and lived with one of the members. They sat on that release for ages because no one in the band thought it was good. Now that the internet is furiously jerking them off, I doubt they would admit that. But fuck man, it's mostly all the same unmoving tempo and palm muting. I just don't get the hype. They started out trying to do a hellhammer/crust thing when it sounds like certain members also in another band together heard about this thing called death metal and how it's all the rage.Honky Kong 64 wrote:Okay so mid-paced DM now = boring? I haven't heard a note of Vastum so no idea if I'd like them. I like slow/mid-paced unorthodox metal, not slow/mid-paced boring metal.
If you guys want to clue me in to some ground breaking shit, please by all means do so.

Re: Any good new death metal out there?
I don't get the tapes only thing. Are they broke or something? Surely, these albums would sell out with a limited run of vinyl and a small pressing on CD. Tapes fucking suck. I guess it would have been cute in the early 90s but in 2011, it's kind of pathetic.Bored013 wrote:I would love to include the last few Black Twilight releases on any "best of" list for 2011 but the truth is that the production on all of this stuff is so bad it just makes me depressed...esp. with the new Arizmenda LP. I don't see how one could write something like that and then record it on a boombox and then fuck up the tape duplication...all of this stuff needs to be on CD.
Edit: and the Ash Borer album needs to be on CD also.
I'd definitely buy Within The Vacuum of Infinity... if they ever release it on something other than a tape.

I check other threads dude, don't worry. I can't tell if we're being sincere or operating on some sub-sub level of sarcasm right now. Thanks?Bored013 wrote:Oh no, all of this has already been covered...but if you really are looking for specific recommendations there are a number of people here that could point you at 5-10 great releases you could get into.Mike Turbo wrote:I wasn't actually expecting anything so no worries there.Bored013 wrote:No offense, but...everything that can be possibly said RE: that topic has already been said. I guess all you have to list would be your expectations and your favorite bands.
