Spacehamster, it's a demo.

i.e. basically an advertisement (especially considering it's a post-release demo), so I'd expect it to show off something particularly attractive from early in the game.

No, those aren't the only enemies you'll fight and right now I have more ammo that I know what to do with. It's not a game everyone will enjoy but it is a good game and has the best gunplay of any games this generation.

Look dude, I wouldn't have asked if I didn't see something I'd potentially enjoy in this game. But the shooter section, for the most part, felt like everything that annoyed the shit out of me about Bioshock. Well, except with way better level design. The visuals are great, I'm not sick of the Mad Max setting in games yet, the AI seems good and the level design is great, so I'm still curious, but all I seem to be doing is frantically switching betwen weapons because I ran out of ammo again while someone hacks away at me with a melee weapon, and then that silly defibrillator minigame triggers.

Report back on this, I'm curious. Would've probably been better if it was Marvel though, considering outside of Batman and Green Lantern the DC universe is pretty fucking lame.

I played a ton of Saint's Row 3 these last two days. I'm hoping I don't have to complete one of the missions because I can't get passed it. Mayhem, it's called. I tried to finally start Skyriim, but I had gotten too drunk and wasn't able to get through the intro without getting dizzy looking at it. Same thing went for Star Wars Force Unleashed, the Vader stuff was cool but once I had to move a box with the force via the two analogue sticks I got blur brain.

Any chance my wife will let me play three days in a row? Hm, if the opportunity arrives I'm going for it, but no way am I going to push for it.

Mayhem isn't too hard... the trick is to string together combos. On the 'easy' levels, just steal a car and drive down the sidewalk plowing through pedestrians and signposts. On 'medium' and 'hard', you're given a rocket launcher with infinite ammo to play with - use it, shoot everything that can be destroyed, better to use a shot to knock down one lamppost than wait for a bigger target if that lamppost keeps your combo going. If you can find a nearby area with lots of fencing, go for it - each section of fencing is one 'item', you can chain some huge combos this way. Gangs and/or cops will be chasing you, but the rocket launcher will make quick work of them - just keep an eye open for brutes and tanks. I cleared all the Mayhem events with these tactics and had plenty of time to spare, the only time I failed one was when I tried to steal a car and use the 'easy' method on a 'hard' one, and got run over and killed by a tank.

Heli Assault, on the other hand... I can't do the two 'hard' instances of that one, I suck at flying the 'copter too much to be able to take out the gang cars quickly enough... I also dislike the tiger escort, it's funny and all (first time I did it, I was laughing my ass off most of the time) but the fucking tiger always seems to hit you at just the right time to make you crash into something that brings the car to a complete stop... would much prefer that activity if the tiger left you the fuck alone when you manage to keep its rage meter at zero. It's frustrating when you're doing a great job of driving fast through heavy traffic and not hitting anything, then the fucking tiger hits you and makes you crash - or, worse, fly off a bridge or cliff.

None of these activities are essential for the storyline, but they are essential for an 100% completion stat - and if there is any one activity that you don't complete, that'll mean at least 3 trophies/achievements are unobtainable (the achievement for that activity, the achievement for City Takeover in that region, and the achievement for City Takeover of the whole map) - probably 4, because every activity has one each of 'easy', 'medium' and 'hard' in two separate regions... and if you can't do them all in one region, chances are you won't in the other region either.

Still playing Batman again. You know... this is more fun this time around for some reason. I think my expectations were just TOO high. But it's still a great game.

I have the 360 version, so I'm awaiting them to patch the game before I start. I'm not having my save files magically wipe out.

I watched a buddy of mine play a bunch of this when it first came out. We're both total DC nerds. My main problem with it was just that it didn't even take advantage of the DC universe license with any real sense of depth. It seemed like the only two real areas were Metropolis and Gotham.

It would be like a version of the LOTR online game where you can only go to the Shire or Mt. Doom. Where's the universe inbetween?

that's exactly right. someone from the internet can send it to me and i will play it but i think i'm at the point where i don't want to directly pay any money for the game as ridiculous as that is. i'm not even really sure where this resentment is coming from but it's actually massive.

The reason this game earns my resentment-- and the others have in a way too-- is because it wants so bad to be a movie.

i was let down because it's really BAD at trying to be a movie. i won't spoil anything, but the way the game combines the cut scenes + combat parts is just really clumsy and it undercuts the quality of the narrative itself, much, much more so than in uncharted 2. the gun parts/story are just too distinct and not dependent enough on one another to make the game flow well.

also, in one of the videos extras you can watch the developers basically admit they build the set pieces first then fill in the story around that, which is incredibly obvious by the time you get to the end of the game.

la noire and heavy rain, to use two recent examples that are both definitely not without their own big faults, do a way better job of being movie-like games and incorporating that quality into the gameplay itself. uncharted 3 not so much.

The vacuum that pulled them through to the moon wouldn't be strong enough to reach the moon's escape velocity. So they should just be sitting on the moon's surface rather than floating in space.

apparently there are still occasionally rival gang members walking around, especially near your strongholds...

you could, if you find some, lure them to a store or crib you own and then bring more in by destroying their vehicles - try to keep the gang members alive, though - and then, when you think you've got enough of them there, duck into your store/crib to remove your notoriety... then, when you go back outside, they'll no longer be hostile but they also won't be able to hop in their cars and drive off 'cause you destroyed them

me, I made sure I did this challenge as early as possible... it was a bit of a frustrating thing to grind out, but now I don't have to worry about it becoming unobtainable...

what are the two trophies you're missing? obviously, the one for completing all challenges... and the one for blowing up Loren's tower at the end of Act 1? if you start a new game for those trophies, you'll have to plow hours and hours into it to complete all 41 challenges all over again

following on from my earlier post, I finished the hard Heli Assault on Carver Island (against the Deckers), still need to do the one in the Downtown area though... and not looking forward to trying again... fucking Pierce, his cover is in a goddamn helicopter, so what does he do? drive under the rail tracks and through fucking tunnels as much as goddamn possible, so it's impossible to shoot any of the cars chasing him... I got to the final stop on one attempt, but that's in the road between the twin towers, which has got a series of arches covering it up and making it pretty goddamn difficult to find a prime spot for parking the 'copter to shoot shit

other than that, I just have three Snatch missions to do, then it'll be plain sailing to 1000Gs... assuming the storyline doesn't throw up any missions I can't do (I never could do the very last mission in Saints Row 2, the part where you had to fly a helicopter and take out a bunch of power generators on the outside of Ultor's tower was beyond me)

I've tried doing that, the bastard is stuck on 10, but the trophy popped for it which is weird. I think I just need, "You're my hero," and the one for blowing up the tower. Everything else I have finished, now I'm just waiting on the dlc since I bought the season pass. I actually cheated with the Downtown activities, I made Stag take over the territory for me. Haha
