the monsters in the second were awesome and they were gone within 15 minutes of the first one
anyone forming opinions towards the game as a whole on them is

That line of thinking is . The Uncharted games are good but they're not beyond criticism. The "monsters" in the second one were unbelievably retarded and really showed how poor writing and scripting is in video games. As SOLH said, it's fine for the first one but they were just repeating themselves in the second one. Don't get me started on how awfully designed the last boss is.The Schwartz wrote:anyone forming opinions towards the game as a whole on them is
Good games but offensively overrated.

Let's talk about something better like the Shadow of the Colossus / ICO HD remake for $30

An even better deal. Steam nerds, get Deus Ex: HR for $36.99 here.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/07 ... temporary/“The ‘90s generation of gamers all love Xcom and we own the IP, so we thought OK, what do we do with it? Every studio we had wanted to do it and each one had its own spin on it. But the problem was that turn-based strategy games were no longer the hottest thing on planet Earth. But this is not just a commercial thing – strategy games are just not contemporary.”
That’s the beauty of modern video game publishers, they’d rather fail in the most popular genre than succeed in a niche.
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

Haha, it's so true. They all think they can make a 10 million copies sold blockbuster. The crowd they want to sell that game to has no idea what XCom even is.
Which one would you recommend for a first timer? Apocalyse?

Tell us of the plan, Riley.
I actually am so disorganized on this. I know Deus Ex comes out sometime this summer and I know Batman is out in the fall. What else is oozing its way out of the slimy nether regions of game developers this year that I should care about? Mass Effect 3 is next year, yes?

Jesus, you sound like my father, Pisscubes.
WM Dad: "I need a new TV like I need a hernia."
Wang Mandu: "That TV's 15 years old and there's a permanent line running down the screen. It's time."
After buying a TV for my old man...
WM Dad: "Yeah, this is much better."
Just do it already so we don't have to keep telling you to do so.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames
After Batman:AA I can never play a God of War style beat 'em up again. The violence is cute but ever since the early 2K era when I finally got to see all the ultra violent films I ever wanted to see ( Iche the Killer for instance ) and after watching all the ECW and Japanese death matches I'm completely immune to the charms and wonders of violence.Pisscubes wrote:I haven't played a God of War game since the first one and I just played the demo for three.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! The violence in that game is so over the top, it's ridiculous. I'll pick this one up sometime...

My cast has been replaced with a brace that actually allows me to hold a controller again for the first time in six fucking weeks. First order of business: beat the Splinter Cell Conviction campaign for the millionth time. Tomorrow I'm getting Infamous 2. I is excited.

Just make sure you do it in the Demon's Souls thread (and do try to start getting the game's name right ahem cough), or there's going to be a whole lot more people doing a whole lot more crying...Pisscubes wrote:It's 15 bucks so, yeah.Magick Sam wrote:just do it alreadyPisscubes wrote:I may pick up Demon Soul's this weekend. I haven't felt a compulsion to go through and play an evil playthrough yet, but I really enjoyed the scale and general awesomeness of 2.
I look forward to Pisscubes finally plugging a HDMI cable into a 1080p monitor/TV and posting about how he was blind, but now he can see.

SPOILERSPOILER_SHOWSeriously though-- 720 on a tv that won't be any bigger than 42 inches tops? Fine.
show me some TVs you're considering - I'm not even sure they make full-size 720 TVs anymore
how much could you possibly be saving? think of the fucking pixels

On this play-through all I'm into Telekinesis and Sonic Boom (Bioshock). I also don't remember but it seems like I'm killing a hell of a lot more women than men. Which is very fine for The Bill, I just can't remember. Perhaps later levels are more dude heavy. Also, I think the Big Daddies are stronger in this one than 2. I can't remember have much issue with them in 2, but unless I plan ahead it's like Clash of the Titans fighting these guys. One thing is staying the same though. Fuck the little Sisters, I have no sympathy for the creepy bitches.

I dunno, it's 720... that's like half the pixels. You already have a bluray player, man! it's not like you won't benefit from the crisper picture on a 40-42"
I just presume anything other than Samsung/Sony is going to be a piece of shit not so much because I've had any bad experience, but because pretty much everyone with a brain has a Samsung/Sony
I could be wrong
but seriously anyone with a Samsung is happy, they're the kings of HDTV
