it's been what, 2 years since that now? and even now i'm not sure i fully understand their intentions with that level

i kind of want to believe that they really wanted to make something thought provoking and unsettling but i'm more and more convinced that they just wanted to be edgy like a 13 year old with a cradle of filth "jesus is a cunt" t-shirt

it's really very ham-fisted

and before you say it, yes i know, duh

something kind of appropriate about that game being the swansong for IW (in everything but name)

but other than those relatively 'independent' outlier type hardcore games from the fps boom late 90's i don't think i've ever seen anything at this level of distribution and popularity that was so unabashedly fucked up, no matter what interpretation you take..

absolutely, especially considering the fact that i think that game was the single biggest entertainment seller that whole year

and there was surprisingly little fallout from the media, which makes it even more puzzling.

on another note, there have been reports that although the console version of BF3 obviously isn't as pretty as the pc version, it's one of the best looking console games to date

yeah i'm curious to see the difference between pc and 360 because its pretty obvious up till now that the pc version is just beyond beyond every other pc game visually and by that measurement how can a console close that gap if at all. that long tank video has just about crazy visual effect and amazing sound thing of the last decade all in one sequence.

i think the biggest complaint (and the one that activision is rallying against) is that the console version runs at 30fps when the ideal goal is usually 60+. that said, bfbc2 ran at 30fps and yes it seemed a little choppy next to COD but it was still just fine.

the sound should stay intact. that takes like zero processing power. the biggest hits from the pc will be texture resolution and lighting effects, which are arguably negligible when you're going to be running around shooting at dudes and not staring at the sunset or whatever.
