More ripped off riffs?

Post by cw »

That "On March The Saint's" song kinda rips off Deceased "Destiny" with it's 'march! march! march! march!' part...not so much in the actual riff but in the execution of it. Or I'm just full of shit. I'm probably just full of shit.

i dont even care anymore, and steal and modify until my hearts content. theirs only 11 notes in western music, and copyright doesn't bother with the infinite amount of expression used within modern music if it cannot be expressed via standard notation.

actually, there's twelve notes if you're talking normal diatonic music, and seventeen or more if you go back farther ... what we'd consider a unison pair (C# and Db, for example) were often treated as separate tones back in the days of non-equal temperaments.

It's like the last one...more trippy shit but can't compare to the awesomeness of the first album...the last 3 or 4 songs are some of the most tripped out shit they've done.

This riff at 2:14 (link here) from Suffocation's "Effigy of the Forgotten" reminds me of a riff from Voivod's "Forgotten in Space" at 4:58 (link here)

Soundgarden's "Pretty Noose" sounds like Green Jello's "Orange Krunch" on the intro parts.

The middle slow build up section in the Paw song "Gasoline" with the whispered vocals, guitar noises and then seizing back up again totally rips off Faith No Mores "Caffine"

Living Sacrifice's "Liar" rips off Dystopia's "Instrumental" (wasn't sure on this one but the Dystopia track predates by at least a year)

Alice In Chains "Hate to feel" borrows a lot from Zepplin's dazed and confused
