I will, and only because if you download the demo you get some free Todd McFarlane armor and junk for Mass Effect 3. I don't know, why not. Hey, if it also turns out to be a good game, all the better.

If I decide to get this, I better not have to deal with that Origin horseshit.

i'm gonna try it out for sure. i'm cautiously optimistic. the fact that the lead designer from morrowind and oblivion is working on it bodes well, but for me it's going to come down to the combat. if it's as fun as the videos make it look, i'll buy it regardless of the story and stuff like that. (mostly) open world + semi-arcade-y but still stat-based fighting would be a cool combination.
I went to XBLA website to que the Reckoning demo and saw that Darkness II and Asura's Wrath also have demo's up today. Good, I'm sure I'll enjoy Darkness II and keep it as a pre-order, but Asura's Wrath is a must for me to play hands on before pondering a purchase.
Nah, it's not like Fable as it's not a 4 hour game filled with empty promises and stupid gestures. Calling the combat shallow, in what is supposed to be a very lengthy game with some fairly large upgrade trees, is a little stupid. I was a tad underwhelmed by the demo but there's a lot there with combat if you start mixing up powers and melee.
Kiddie gameplay? Haha, this whole generation has been about kiddie gameplay. Streamlining, tutorials out the ass, aim assist, regenerating health, constant autosaving, etc. etc.
I think the art style is fine and it does stand out from the usual slathered in brown and grey games.
Edit: I do agree about the controls...something seems a bit off. The camera could use some work but then this is a demo and those tend to be months old builds of games.
Haha, the Mass Effect 3 demo hits Feb. 14th, a full week after KOA. Guess everyone has to wait a week to enjoy the cross promotional items in game. Fuck, EA is such a stupid company.
Well, after a bit o' Skyriming, I tried the Darkness II demo (Reckoning and A's Wrath didn't finish downloading). I like it, I like it a lot, but it certainly is a good game, rather than great. Looks like they traded in some of the original's sneak for a more in your face Bulletstorm type gaming experience, which oddly works do to having 4 available weapons at any given time. My God, though, is this game fucking violent. I'm not squeamish in the slight, but wish-boning people and the multiple impalements you can preform is slightly gruesome. Blood and torn up bodies with entrails are everywhere.
I WAS PLAYIN SKYRIM AT MY FRIENDS HOUSE BUT IT WAS WEIRD. THERE WAS A ELF OR GHOST OR SOMETHING AND I SAID GET THAT ONE. BUT MY FRIENDS A ASSHOLE AND WOULDNT GO IT. I DONT UNDERSTAND THAT GAME HOW CAN 2 PPL PLAY. TECHNOLOGY SHOULD BE THERE BY NOW
Payday: The Heist is fun as balls! It's pretty damn challenging, they pull a left 4 dead by having things change every playthrough. I got it for $9 through Sony's 12 for 12' its worth a check out.
FF XIII-2: An angsty teenage girl in an overly elaborate whore dress, a wannabe badass try-hard and an annoyingly cute flying creature that makes squawking noises stumble through an overly elaborate combat system that can be beaten by just repeatedly pressing X. Sometimes I really fucking hate Japan.
(Editor's note: this was the first time in my life I've ever played a Final Fantasy game. All my fears were confirmed within the first 30 seconds.)
Asura's Wrath: It's just like God of War. Well, if GoW only consisted of its QTEs, but badly implemented and with shitty graphics and incredibly annoying characters. At one point, Asura causes a space god several times the size of the planet he's on to explode by punching him in the fingertip. That actually seems awesome when I type it up like that, but it really isn't.
Kingdoms of Alamur: Only played this for about five minutes. Run through mediocre graphics representing a dungeon, mash attack button. I'll give it another shot, but so far I'm profoundly unimpressed.
The Darkness II: Clearly the winner of the bunch. I didn't like the visual style much at first, but it kinda grew on me and the combination of shooting and ripping people to shreds with demon-faced tentacle things, then eating their hearts for extra XP is pretty fun. I actually have the first one lying around here somewhere, may have to finally play that now.

I just always thought these games, especially the more recent ones, looked like someone took everything I personally find annoying about the Anime aesthetic and all its stereotypes and distilled it to its purest essence. Then I load up the demo, and that's exactly what I'm getting. Every character is annoying, everything is designed like a unicorn puked a rainbow on the action figure aisle, and everything that happens makes me want to punch a hole through the screen. The first big fight is... against a giant floating arm. And then it's revealed that... the giant floating arm was attached to an invisible giant. Oooh. Aaah.
I can totally understand that this thing has fans - if this particular aesthetic is what you like, playing this must be a constant boner. But if you're like me, it's almost unbearable. It's like the Devourment of videogames.

When you say, "I just hit the X button" are you saying that FF is no longer turn based?! I can't stand turn based, peoples, I really cannot stand it at all. Yeah, though, I also can't stand that stereotypical anime shit either. Must all the male characters be half a fag? Must all the females be quater retard? Must all animal/fantasy extras be some sort of clusterfuck combo of all the world's worst kid's show sidekicks (Uni, Snarf, Orko, Alpha-5)
