Is it normal to count Ks against batters in fantasy baseball? The league I'm in does and I think it's dumb.

The league I'm in has a negative stat for pitchers and batters. I like the idea. Offsets the imbalance by having players like Mark Reynolds or Carlos Pena, where when they homer you have a positive stat in 3 categories, but their 33% K ratios count for nothing against them.

Why should it? Yeah a strikeout won't move the runner forward, but you also won't ground into a double play.

It equalizes players like Reyes or Ichiro who have higher OBP/BA and steal bases but don't strike out. In my league their strengths count in three categories (SB, R, K), the same with power hitters (OBP, RBI, HR).

The league I'm in doesn't have that, which means that Miguel Cabrera becomes really valuable as a third baseman.

I'm in a keeper league with only Cubs and Red Sox fans. I overspent beyond belief on Cabrera to be able to keep him and JV. No way were any non-Tigers fans getting either of them.

That one can go fuck itself. As for the K stat instead of BA for power hitters, the league I'm in uses OBP instead. So some power hitter's dismal average can be boosted by their walks.
