Ha. I've often wondered when you hear "cash considerations" if they're just trying to find a way around admitting that someone got traded for nothing.

Interesting article about Miguel Cabrera. Something severely traumatic must've happened to him at some point.

Julio Teheran has been dealing in spring training...he's got great quality pitches and is finally living up to potential.

but I've got a bold, depressing prediction: not only will Craig Kimbrel's numbers regress, I think he's gonna blow many saves and fans are gonna want him replaced as closer

also...Bryce Harper is now a beast and he is going to be an mvp candidate this year. last year he did not look this way, so I wasn't viewing it that way. I seriously think this is a guy who will one day hit .325 and have 35+ homers with 25+ steals. no shit. dude BARRELS the ball and should scare the FUCK out of pitchers.

Brian Cashman has no fucking clue what he's doing at this point. He traded for Vernon Wells' contract? I mean, he's not taking all of it on, but still you could probably get a .220 hitting outfielder for less than 7-8m a season in your farm system.

It's supposed to be some arcane way of getting a luxury tax credit? Sometimes when I'm feeling down I think about the Wells Napoli trade and just smile.

their outfield was slated to be gardner, ichiro, and who? ben francisco? boesch? melky mesa? juan rivera?

I don't really think that ben francisco or juan rivera would be any worse than wells offensively, though definitely not as capable defensively. of course, with ichiro and gardner that really isn't such a big deal. if melky mesa hits at all, he's better than wells. boesch is hurt.

if you're gonna take an OF albatross, I'd rather have soriano at this point

What really boggles my mindgrapes is how they didn't even make an offer to Russell Martin before he signed to Pittsburg for very similar money and are now stuck with a catching platoon of Chris Stewart and Francisco Cervelli. So they money was there, and Granderson is only expected to be out for a few weeks.

So they're paying a temp outfielder for two years for what they should be paying a full time catcher for the same years.

Teheran's spring training stats aren't hype. hell, he was hyped way more 2 years ago, then he got stuck in AAA.

dude is fucking legit. his stuff is live, varied, and he was the best pitcher in any camp league-wide.

convincing stuff + stats make me fucking excited as a braves fan.

votto is not going to have a bad year

why the athletics love, dudes? they're not bad, and I think cespedes will be an MVP candidate, but you don't think the rangers are better on paper?

as far as the padres go...yeah, I will call you crazy. you're crazy. what leads you to believe that that the padres will be any good at all?

I know the AL East is stacked this year, but I can't see both the Red Sox and Yankees finishing in the bottom 2.

Yes, dick. The Red Sox still have a potentially decent pitching staff, some decent offensive bats, and some decent fielders. Just because Toronto has a stacked roster doesn't mean automatic division title.

The organization certainly seems high on him. ZIPS predicts some reasonable regression, but I don't know if that's just a lack of a large sample or what. In any case, I can't see him ever being the level of a Mike Trout, Giancarlo Stanton type who is a legit MVP-potential outfielder.

so you're saying that his strikeouts are the problem? his average might come down a bit, but I think comparing a guy who hit in the .290s to carlos pena and mark reynolds is more than a little bit unfair. his k% last year was only about 19. that's not that high. about 70 players had higher rates. trout, mccutchen, beltran, harper, bourn, freese, hamilton...

dude I don't know what you're talking about.

first of all, I said tampa would win the division.

second...on offense: pedroia, a hurt david ortiz, one hipsworth of mike napoli, wil middlebrooks, and jacoby ellsbury. and a whole lot of garbage. starters: lester, buccholz, lackey, dumpster, doubront. not good. their relief corps might be ok. do you really think that that team is better than ANY other team in the east? I don't.

Speaking of things that over 70 players had higher rates in how about that 23 hr 82 RBI 70 run production line while being a DH disguised as a CF in one of mlbs deepest parks is pretty impressive but if your argument is why not because he got a pat on the back nod to the A's season instead of earning actual MVP accolades then sure why the hell not
