See, that's what I'm talking about. There's a little cult of people who go fucking ballistic over GT games. From wiki:
Since the franchise's debut in December 1997, over 70 million units have been sold worldwide for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable, making it the highest selling video game franchise under the PlayStation brand.
what the fucking shit

I find it's occasionally a must-have item for people who don't even really play video games otherwise. Stuff like that fascinates me.

And in other news I finally modded my Wii to play Gamecube backups properly. Any recommendations? I've really only ever played the Metroid, Resident Evil and Zelda GC games. I guess I should really check out Super Mario Sunshine someday...

The driving in the GT games feels awesome, and with all the tuning and upgrades you can do, they're just great games to geek out over. Like really nerdy RPGs with cars. It does require at least some appreciation of fancy sports cars, though.

sunshine is possibly the most underrated mario game ever. i'll never understand why people don't like it. because it did something different? because if there's one thing nintendo fans hate, it's innovation
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

Being completely ignorant to the game I will say that the little tropical loompa-people have always looked gross to me. Surface-level turnoff, I'm sure the game is wonderful. But there is some oddly repellent aura floating about it...

Just wanted to post this now that I've finished it up. My consolized MV1C with unibios 3.1 installed. It's ghetto compared to stuff like the Omega, but it ended up costing about 1/6th the price and works perfectly. Takes standard Neo Geo controllers, outputs RGB, MVS stereo, and would still work in a Jamma cabinet should I ever decide to put it in one. I'm happy with how it turned out, and now I just need to get some games for it. So far I only have King of Fighters 99, World Heroes 2 Jet, and coming in the mail Samurai Shodown, Bust-a-Move, and Metal Slug 2. Girlfriend loves Bust-a-Move and the Metal Slug games so it's just as much for her as it is for myself.

i saw that soul sacrifice DLC too and grabbed it  btw, hope you're not burned out on it yet because i'm still planning on doing some MP soon.... had a super busy week and still haven't had time to use my vita hardly at all :(

i did have time to replace my PS3 HDD though. has anyone else done that before? i had a 120GB slim that i got in '09 and replaced it with a 500GB HDD. even though it's still 5400RPM, loading times but especially install times are so much faster. no more terrible clicking noises either. totally worth it for $50 and a 30 minute process.

There's so much free shit on PSN+ these days that you basically don't need to buy any more games if you don't mind playing stuff that's a few months old. I'd say they're already doing it pretty well.

I'll believe that when Valve goes out of business and we actually get to keep our games.

As for Adobe, they might be giving me the last reason to finally be able to give both OSX and Windows the finger. The only thing keeping me from Ubuntu anymore is the fact that Photoshop apparently runs like ass in Wine. If they're turning their product into something I can't use anymore, well, problem solved.

I know all that. Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it. The bottom line is, you're not really buying a product that you own, you're paying for these games and hope Valve will continue to let you play them. And because you get a lot of cheap shit from them, you accept a DRM model that other companies are regularly e-lambasted for. Because of the cheap shit, because we've all gotten used to Steam (I think I have two games on my PC aren't on Steam), and because Valve have done enough other things to be considered cool while EA and Ubisoft are considered villains, we accept their model that we would otherwise be against on general principle just like you're against monthly fees on general principle.

So what I'm saying is, I don't like the subscription model either, but I've come to accept it because Sony makes it worth my while, just like I accept Steam and hate Origin and Uplay.

anything you pay for on PSN, even if it's the result of a Plus-only sale for $0.01, you get to keep forever regardless of whether you have a Plus membership. The only thing you wouldn't have access to with a lapsed Plus membership is the 100% free games that rotate in and out.

and PSN is killing it lately, especially with these really good $15 games at $3.75

I don't log into the PSN store too often so I don't ever know about sales like this. XBOX has the Major Nelson website to keep me appraised of weekly XBLA sales. Sony have an equivalent?

Man, fuck XIII. Escort missions, forced stealth missions, no quick save, no check points... I'm done. Too old to sit here and play a mission over and over and over when the game isn't really clicking with me to begin with. I recall people back in the day telling me to skip this game. But I'm forgetting.

This isn't the next REAL Zelda game is it??

That's fucking horrible! What are those games again? Dynasty Warrior and Gundam whatever? Looks like those dopey gimmicks. If it was a Smash Bros single player mode thing it would be okay, but that can't be a proper Zelda game. If it is, then that Link needs to say, "Well Excuuuuuse me, Princess!" over and over again just to keep it's utter contempt for the source material in perspective.

a couple of things:

just beat hotline miami finally. pretty sure it took my #1 indie game spot away from super meat boy. the awesome soundtrack, addictive gameplay, and cool style were too much to resist.

too anyone on PSN, what is your platinum count? i'm fairly close to the BF4 plat and it would be my 5th if i got it. i know riley has a shitload, and so does jake probably.

Nice! I'd recommend picking up a 160-in-1 Multicart.. should be able to find them for a hundred bucks or less. Totally worth it. Now I can just focus on getting some of the MVS games that aren't on there like Windjammers, Shock Troopers 1, Sengoku 2, Magician Lord, etc.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is only 9 something bucks on XBLA. I've been in a Spidey sort of mood as of late (cartoon & comics, no films), and reviews aren't bad at all for it. Anyone first hand it?

IIRC i'm at 6. i'm thinking about going for the plat in hotline miami because i like it so much that i want an excuse to keep playing it... pretty sure getting A+ perfect runs on some of those chapters will take 100 tries if i don't just copy YT vids
