Re: True Detective (HBO)
They talked about it this episode; something along the lines that she was on her 2nd strike, so lied to avoid the 3rd.
Why is nobody talking about that shit opening scene with Vaughn? Horrible.

I fucking love this season thus far, maybe more than the first...
it's like twin peaks meets heat...vaguely unsettling in all storylines...yet none make sense
it has a brooding undeniability that makes me want to watch
loving it

Re: True Detective (HBO)
The episode honestly would have been much, much better if it had just opened up with Caspere on the coroner's table. I know Nick Pizza thinks his words are genius, but that scene was just bad. I guess we're supposed to get that Frank is a survivor and he has daddy issues. Wow, great stuff. I was starting to write off Vince Vaughn completely, but it's not his fault the writing and directing of that scene were awful. When Frank starts acting like a gangster again, then Vince Vaughn is immediately perfect for the role (like the scene after the hit and run where he shakes down that guy).Necrophilic Mallard wrote:They talked about it this episode; something along the lines that she was on her 2nd strike, so lied to avoid the 3rd.

Rachel McAdams is awesome. I am loving her on this show.

If Velcoro isn't dead, then this show has no fucking balls at all. Yes, I loved that character and think the potential for more was pretty great, but don't end an episode like that only to bring him back because he was wearing a vest. Any real criminal would have put him away with a headshot.

Re: True Detective (HBO)
Well I blame some of you for that after poopoo'ing the cult aspect of last season and being "it was all about the characters the whole time, maaaaan"
that's what you get
that's what you get

Re: True Detective (HBO)
Vince Vaughn is such a horrible actor and just detracts from any scene he's in, especially with his "dog chasing a bird" bouncing eyes.

This season's characters are all the same just with different maladies. It's missing goofy, sleezy Woody Harrelson.

he delivered that shit like some kind of snake person
he's fine when he's smooth-talking a mile a minute (the intimidation scene worked, for example) but when he slows down it seems like he's never experienced an honest emotion in his life

i feel like this season is flirting with doing cool things but someone just lacks the balls to actually do them
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

"Shouldn't a reasonable man infer, from Osip's arrival, and departure, and fucking failure to make good on our terms, as being connected, not just to Caspere, but prefiguring Caspere, in a causal sense?"
sorry to harp on this so much, but shit
