Re: bike thread
the lemond is probably built by hand by some italian/japanese master builder. your cross check is probably built by a machine in china. if you find the serial number and do some digging you can probably find out where and by who it was built. I had a 3rensho built specialized allez that rode like butter but i got hit by a car on it and now it hangs in my garage. My garbage can ciocc rides better than my road bike but its not as light. ive been thinking about building it like this:

Re: bike thread
The hub cracked on the rear wheel of my lemond, spoke flexed out and caught the rd, pulling it in and bending the hanger. Its bent back into place now. Not a spoke broke, just the flange on the hub WTF.

Re: bike thread
So I rode 17 miles with my brother in law last week...out of breath and struggling to keep up the entire time.
I rode 28 by myself the other day and barely got winded. Do this mean I need to push myself harder riding solo? Maybe shorten my rides and up the intensity?

Re: bike thread
probably ride more often closer to threshold for like 15-20 minutes.
its better to ride 30 minutes a day with 15 of those being hard effort than one big ride a week, for example.

I told a Cape Verdean guy at work that I spent 2k on a bike. He told me that you can get bikes at yard sales for $20.

Re: bike thread
I love winter riding, but they dump a bunch of salt on the roads, so it eats yr bike. I haven't even built my winter fixed gear yet so I know what I am doing tomorrow

Re: bike thread
I now live 3.3 miles from work. I need to get my shit together and start using a bike.
I'm in a very busy area full of entitled luxury SUV drivers.
Is there a better map thing than google maps for finding a route?
