Vanilla DS2 was totally fine on PC, though, I don't see why you'd expect the upgrade to be broken. I mean, other than the fact that anything can come out broken these days at any time or later be broken by a patch, of course.

The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames)

The Bill wrote:So Friday I got home, fiddled with Oblivion modding again, got the game looking real pretty for its age and decided to start a new game. Then BLAM! I got really shitty drunk out of nowhere. I remember killing some wolves then being lost inside of an Oblivion realm. Could not get out. Really don't know how I got that drunk that quick, maybe because I was getting over a nasty cold, but I didn't take any medication.

I know Bloodborne is out soon, but I really want to dive into Oblivion being that it looks so damn different after modding it.
What mods are you using on Oblivion? We were just talking about that game at work the other day. Apparently, I have a coworker that 100%'ed Oblivion. I have never beat a Bethesda game yet I invest more hours on average to them than any other game.

Anyways, the conversation made me want to play it again, but the thought of dealing with weapons and armor breaking made me throw Skyrim back on.

I'm at work, so I can't check my PC to see what I have. And to be brutally honest with you, when I get home tonight I'm going to crack open a beer and start the game, not look up what I'm using. I will list the major ones I remember, though. I also highly suggest you watch a Youtube video or two on modding Oblivion. I learned how to do it all via Skyrim, and it took hours of trial, error, and stating over to get things right and get things to not crash the game to hell.

1) First of all http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/? is your new best friend.

2) I use the unoffical patches for Oblivion and all of the expansion packs, here's the main Oblivion one: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/5296/?, you should hunt down the DLC ones as well.

3) You need this to get a lot of mods to work: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/37952/?

4) A lot of them need this for models http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43752/?, such as this one: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43612/?

5) Graphics and shit that looks cool!!!!
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2536/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/30054/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/18498/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/19370/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/37825/? but I may replace that with this one tonight, seeing which I prefer http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/8011/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43879/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/4539/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/18305/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/44337/? *Dark Souls doesn't have anything as dark as staring down at your own feet to see arrows impaled in your crotch
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/19628/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/45749/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/39804/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/11891/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/40392/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/37825/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/45990/?

6) Then I turn all that shit into a jungle/rain forest setting
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/45960/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/35907/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43484/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/45568/?

7) And this is the motherfucker that changes Oblivions monster encounters enough that it seems like a new game:
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/44629/?

Again, I know I'm forgetting a bunch. Also, again if you've never done it I'd watch some Youtube videos, and maybe do what they do exactly. I never did that, but I've had to start from scratch and meticulously experiment. Remember, modding Oblivion can be a mess. Some mods have to be installed in front of others, and later ones need to override an older one, but you can't over ride a certain thing. Bah! We take what we want and leave the rest… Just like your salad bar.

Yeah, I was doing it with Kb/M. It (was?) is literally impossible to play. I don't have a controller (nor am I any good with one), so that was a waste of $50.

How many PC people here actually own controllers? I'd be shocked if it was more than like a couple. Controllers are horrible. I bought a PS4 and Last Of Us and holy fuck I can't do shit but run into walls.

I only play my PC with a controller, sport. I don't have a monitor/desk setup. I'm cold chillin' on a futon with a HDTV drinking my beers, using a goddamn wireless XBOX 360 controller to play my games. Hell, I even use a program (http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/) so I can play games with a controller that were never meant to use a controller. And I'm fucking great with it.

Still have one. Yet, now I have all those games in fancy modded, and or up scaled graphics/sound versions. Plus, no physical copies to crowd up my self. Also, double plus, I have my old favorites that were never ported to console, like Clive Barker's Undying. Triple thunder plus, all these fan made things like Brutal Doom. Mega Ultra plus, Arcade, Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and PS1 games all looking their best. But you should know that already.

Fair enough. Maybe it's just because I totally suck with a controller these days and going back has been inordinately painful, I just can't see how anyone plays with a controller after playing Kb/M.

I went from growing up with only controllers to a period of only using m/kb. Going back to controller was awkward until Halo arrived. Now I can use both no problem.

No worries. I assumed you were using a lot. I might have to experiment with this at some point, but I am too busy being a cannibal in Skyrimjob now

So apparently that issue with the PS4 where the picture cuts out intermittently because of something or other to do with the HDMI plugs can happen out of nowhere after you haven't used the f'n thing for months. Thankfully just plugging it into the next port did the trick.

Also, still resisting the urge to download Bloodborne before the hardcopy gets here. Ugh.

Ryu Ga Gotoku 0 is fucking long

i've got like 60+ hours and the end is nowhere in sight

hm.

5 > 4 > 0 > 3 > 2 > 1?

I really like the story of 1 and 2 but I feel like the series just gets better overall over time. I didn't even get 1/4 of the way through 5 before waiting on the english version but man, what I played of it was so good...

Ishin! was really strong too. Dead Souls/Of the End is by far the worst of all the console games but I still kind of loved it because they took the opportunity to just pull out all the fanservice stops. and to someone who was motivated to learn another language just to play games in this series, obviously I don't mind a little pandering

Thanks. Makes me excited to finally finish 3 and play 4 and 5 for the first time. I heard nothing but great things about 5.

Ishin.....Sony dropped the ball with that one. :ax: :(

I think 4 sold way less than 100k copies in the west. frankly it's a miracle that we're even getting 5... 4 years later. even I'm not crazy enough to think that an Edo-period spinoff game would even be able to recoup the localization costs.

Damn that bad? I'm still surprised we even got 3 localized. I figured Ishin would have been a good move because the PS4 didn't really have many games to begin with.
