I have no idea how this will be or how I will handle it.

X - 8/10
Great slasher with modern themes (relationship between sexes, how does media/ pornography influence it, the role that desire plays for self-image etc.). Not sure if Mia Goth was convincing as the old hag, in some scenes her movements seemed off.
The Sacrament - 7.5/10
Another Ti West film. The dude is great at creating an unsettling, tense atmosphere. Was nervous the whole first half before everything goes to shit. Looking forward to watching the other films Ti West has done.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For - 3/10 - This shit didn't make sense, inconsistent with the first movie, and just ass boring. +3 for Evan Green's gratuitous T&A. She sure likes to show her spectacular tits in movies.

True Lies - 9
Independence Day - 8, but becomes a 10 when coupled with this immediately afterwards. This is becoming an annual tradition for me.
I saw ID4 in theaters on July 4th 1996 with my father. Got Italian gelato afterwards. Very warm memory.

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
am I the only REAL AMERICAN here who has seen the new top gun? I saw it again yesterday on uncle sam's b-day, on an even bigger IMAX screen, and it was an even better form of perfection
tomorrow night is almost certainly yinz' last chance to see this on IMAX before thor comes out... maybe stop fucking up? one of the most "essential IMAX" movies ever
top gun (1986) 6.5/10 - pretty bad compared to the sequel tbqh

yeah i saw it on a big ass imax and thought it completely owned
i'd say as a criticism that it went right through me and left without a trace and i dont think about it at all but i get that it was about as fun and entertaining as it could be possibly be and against all the odds

Super Mario bros - 6.5/10
Eh, it wasn't that bad if you somehow don't expect it to be an actual Mario film. Entertaining early 90s bullshit with a good Dennis Hopper.

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
Deadly Force ('83) - 5.5/10 - This starts out pretty strong but really loses steam as it progresses. I'm a big Wings Hauser fan, especially in go-for-broke unhinged roles... but somewhere about 2/3rds through, it starts feeling like a bad, early 80s television cop show. Some good moments, though.
The Severed Arm ('73) - 7/10 - If you're trapped in a mine and are about to cut off a companion's arm for food, maybe hold off for just another 10 minutes to see if you get rescued. That way, no one is out to get you for amputating their arm and sending them to a loonybin.
Polyester ('81) - 8.5/10 - Criterion blu ray comes with an Odorama card, so the scratch and sniff gags still play.
Crestone ('20) - 6/10 - Soundcloud rappers living in the desert, smoking weed, and scavenging to survive. Lots of nice drone shots and weird staged bits.
Voyage of the Rock Aliens ('84) - 6/10 - Odd 80's flick that boils down to a bunch of music videos strung together. Weird relic of a time when MTV was everything, Devo was a sensation, and the 50's retro trend was swinging into gear.
Police Story 3: Super Cop ('92) - 7.5/10 - I'm usually pretty quiet when I watch a flick, but stunt movies of this magnitude make me say things out loud like "Jesus Christ" or "Holy fuck" without realizing it.

What did I do to allow this to be a thing. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. Whatever I did, I had no idea something like this would be released into our universe. I’m so sorry.

Yeah it looks horrendous. Haven't ever seen a single Rob Zombie flick, not ever going to do it now.

Laser Mission - 6.5/10, could go up to 8 or 9 with the right crowd/ mood
Brandon Lee stars in this dumb as shit 80s low budget action movie. It has black people, Spanish people, AND the KGB for some reason in the same place? And Werner Pochath is playing one of the baddies (in hilarous fashion, as usual)?! The cuts are totally random at times and every single one of the oneliners is cringy as hell. Maybe not as goofy as Samurai Cop, but it's not that far off.
