Tremors ('90) - 8/10 - First time seeing this and understand why it's considered a classic. What is strange is that the Family Ties dad not only plays a gun nut that doesn't know how to hold a shotgun, and that he went on to star in all 7 Tremors films, most of which were straight to video/streaming. Gambling debt? Somehow didn't get much syndication money? Just a weird dude? Not sure, but I gotta respect it.

Clue ('85) - 7.5/10 - Maybe a bit goofy, but holds up surprisingly well. I didn't have a high opinion of it previously, as most of it went over my head as a kid, but enjoyed it this go-around.

Paprika ('06) - 8/10 - Another one that I wasn't super impressed with at first, seeing it in the theater upon release. I think my expectations were wildly high due to the trailer. It's got some incredible animation, despite the occasional obvious CGI sections.

Golden Arm ('20) - 6/10 - Definitely goofy comedy that has an ensemble cast of UCB alum. My expectations were low, and I was pleasantly surprised at how often I laughed at pretty dumb gags. There's a dirth of comedies lately, so I'll take what I can get.

Dead Zone ('83) - 8/10 - Rewatched again with the wife, since she had only seen the TV show with Anthony Michael Hall. I can't compare the two, but have to imagine it doesn't approach this. "The ICE... is gonna BREAK!" should be a saying that's at least as popular as "Get to the Choppa", IMO.

Howard the Duck ('86) - 5/10 - I'm not sure I ever saw the entire thing before - because I was surprised at how horny it is. Nude lady ducks with nipples on their tits, constant sexual innuendos and allusions to beastiality - absolutely bizarre. I need to watch a FX doc on this, because the stop motion was amazing, and the duck face animatronics must have made things difficult for the actors in the suits. If they managed to trim 30 minutes off the runtime, I think it would have made for a cult classic, but at 110mins - it DRAGS in sections. Overall, it reinforced the idea that recent Marvel flicks aren't BAD movies, per say... they're just not made for me, an adult man in my 40s. They're the modern equivalent of the 80's GI Joe cartoons: vehicles to sell merchandise. This seemed like they were trying to stay very loyal to the adult themes of the comic, while also pandering to the budding MTV generation and ended up with a psychotic mess. It was funny to see a Misfits sticker on the Lea Thompson's guitar case.

I should have known it was Phil Tippet responsible, because it's pretty amazing work all around. Thanks for posting this!

The Wolverine ('13) - 6/10 - I originally saw a good bootleg copy of this when it came out - and it was mostly unmemorable. I paid $6 for the 3D blu ray, and wasn't disappointed, mostly because of LOW expectations. 3D effects are done well, thankfully, and I fully enjoyed the bullet train fight sequence as a result. I don't think that sequence translates well to a standard TV viewing. Overall, still mostly unmemorable. Directed by James Mangold, who made the yet-to-be-released Indiana Jones flick, as well as Logan - for whatever that's worth.

Alien from L.A. ('88) - 5/10 - Directed by the recently deceased Albert Pyun, this stars Kathy Ireland as a nerdy, weirdly voiced girl who falls into a city in the center of the earth while investigating her fathers death. A strange entry in the Cannon films catalog, and probably fodder for MST3k at some point. It's good? It's bad. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

M3GAN ('23) - 7.5/10 - I got a real kick out of this, but it's not a good movie - I had my suspension of disbelief in high gear. If you see this, don't go in trying to take the premise (or anything for that matter) seriously. That's generally the case with most Blumhouse flicks, and half the time it works out.

The Abominable Dr. Phibes ('71) - 9/10 - I've mentioned this movie before, but got a blu ray version as I had only seen the rip on youtube previously. I rewatched yesterday and it's still among my recently discovered favorites for just how bizarre everything is. It's got some good running gags throughout as well.

DUDE!!!

Well no shit! Hahaha, I guess I probably could have checked that first. I watched the Vinegar Syndrome rescanned version which looks fantastic, but I will probably have to check out the MST3K version at some point. Good lazy Sunday flick.

I recently picked up The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant from Kino Lorber and it includes the RiffTrax audio as an option, which I think makes for a good bonus feature. Features Bruce Dern and Casey Kasem(???).

Invaion of the Body Snatchers (78): 7.5/10
Donald Sutherland is great in everything he's in. The chemistry in Invasion between him and Brooke Adams is amazing. Have to say though the whole thing didn't need to be almost two hours long, but it's not like I was bored at any point.
