There is a military surplus* store in North Palm Springs called Traders of the Lost Surplus, and the owner is kinda weird.

*This? This asterisk? When I say "military surplus," I mean it's almost exclusively Nazi memorabilia, vintage and reproductions.

I'm not SJWing it either, I've been poking around his website for a while now, and the one thing I found photographed that wasn't literally Nazi stuff was German WWI pickelhaube (and a text reference to Mussolini's fez, but I didn't see it)

The owner isn't much of an online guy, and the only interesting thing I found about him is that at some point in the early 90s, he was excluded from participating in US procurement/non-procurement programs due to some dust-up with the Defense Logistics Agency, who are the ones that dispose of military surplus.

Been listening to Cumia since about 2001. Around 2008 when he really started losing his shit, I decided to keep watching until the end, because I wanted to see what happens to a person of his profile and wealth when they make those sort of choices. I don't think anyone on his level have ever decided to be pointedly, openly racist. He also outed himself as an alcoholic ephebophile which was interesting. What are the consequences of those choices, and who will stick by you, and why?

This is the first time his downward spiral has hit me as being genuinely sad. Hearing that he got thrown out of the joint by Club Soda Kenny is genuinely tragic. The whole thing really has a narrative arc, now.

its so funny to see a guy who has decided, like you said, to on some level make his racism so public and so un-deconstructed as well and yet still struggle like a child does with the logical fallout of that decision and its consequences. and thats so common with racist guys too, their own butt hurt that follows. the pathology that leads them to be obsessed with race wont allow them to accept when you tell them to their face that theyre someone obsessed with race. it's always everyone else

Chewing that over is so fucking fascinating from a psychological perspective. Its most of the reason I watch. The slow creep of extremity is a macabre show to see, as well. Cumia was always racist, but he was basically a centrist and used to absolutely revel in mocking the alex jones crowd, as well as cultural/religious conservatism in general. Some of that will shift naturally with age, but I'm interested in the extent to which people change who they are based on hating the people they hate. Water turning to air in order to distinguish itself from ice.

My favorite thing lately has been watching them talk about misattributed racism - like someone will call something racist, and then one or both of them will spend 30 minutes laughing and calling that thing innocuous and innocent. It's an easy game to play, and sometimes they're correct - but why is that particular game always so compelling for people who are extremely racist? It's similar to the holocaust denial crowd, in that so many of them are extreme antisemites who are sympathetic to the impulses which led to the holocaust.
