Folks in goofy, campy costumes is the same as...BDSM? Am I reading that incorrectly? I know that if I sign up to have my balls punished by a professional and a dude in a silly wig is awaiting me, I want a refund.

I've been to drag shows; they're funny as shit and inoffensive, unless you're humorless. I can't imagine being offended by that goofy, harmless shit. It's essentially a roast, sans the profanity.

As to why drag people want to read to kids, I'll give my most charitable take: "Hey kids, you're going to encounter a lot of weird motherfuckers in life, but a lot of them are okay and mean you no harm." If you're weirded out by them, I kind of get it, but just don't send your kids. I'm curious as to what nefarious shit people think is going to happen to kids in public in a group setting that includes adult supervision.

But not everyone has A Glub to say "not a huge deal" and, that being the case, maybe it's not worth the effort. For folks who don't know any better, I can see how they would think shit is weird and I can see how opportunistic grifters could try to monetize this with Satanic Panic Part 2.

It’s not my hill to die on either but the more you think about it the more ridiculous argument it is because even if it actually was happening in some
cases you might as well say children shouldn’t be allowed to be around adults at all because any number of scenarios could lead to a situation involving child molestation. Camps, churches, schools, baby sitting. The vast majority of child molesters statistically are straight men. It’s should be abundantly clear the trans hysterical is right wing cultural war bullshit used to rile up a fanatical Christian fundamentalist base.

Not to mention no one seems to care about how offensive this could be considered to Hindus who believe in a third gender.
