Stir of Echoes - 6.9
Idiocracy - 9.5
Split - 7.9
Akira - the weirdest 10 ever

The sloppy plot will always drive me a little nuts but it's still an inarguable masterpiece, I can't believe it was made with human hands.

Furiosa - 7

The first half goes hard. Hemsworth was great. Second half dragged. I really love how Miller does his night shots.

agreed that the first hour or so was the best! maybe it would be an 8/10 for me if it was just a super intense 90 minutes

When I saw Fury Road I was convinced the guy looking through the telescope was "The Bear" from Slam Poetry but it is some else who has osteogenesis imperfecta.

for Vernon, I guess:

I figured out my bias re: Furiosa

THE MILDEST of ‼️spoilers‼️

it’s basically a revenge movie, and I’ve never gotten down with that as a motivation for a main character. Mandy & The Northman are other recent movies i “should have” liked more but fell flat (for me). the main/only exception is kill bill, which is definitely in that genre, and i don’t know why i love it so much. i guess that story is retroactively about more than just punishing your enemy?

anyway, there’s my bias

Dune: Part Two - 9.5/10 - I wasn't fully sold on Chalamet in the first one, but Jesus Christ that kid did great in this one. Bardem, Butler, Batista, all great too. Awesome movie and I hope they come back to it for a 3rd eventually.

Butler is a better actor than Leto, easily. He was so great in this role. And he's definitely got that sleazy Wincott energy. I kind of want to see Elvis now?

It was his vocal cadence that made me think of Wincott, I kept getting flashbacks of Top Dollar.

Didn't really like baron harkonan. Felt like a crappy version of Brando in apocalypse now. I prefer the craven coward from the 1984 film. I loved the monochromatic look of their home planet.

In the first thirty minutes of the Elvis movie I had trouble accepting him as Elvis, but after that he nailed it.

Don't love the AI addition to Furiosa but that's interesting I guess because it's just used as a tool for effects but the slippery slope of that seems fucked up
