I thought Brujeria was real. I thought it was South American gang members who were into satanic metal. I had no fucking idea it was a work

I was going to make a post like "what if The Polyphonic Spree are actually hardcore while pretending to be a bunch of goofballs" and found this

I remember talk of if Mike Patton was in the band back in ‘97 or so, and I don’t know shit about music.

I remember Dino Cazarez and his wife getting beat up by his singer in Divine Heresy.

I think Bill Gould produced and played bass on the early stuff.
Guero Sin Fe was his nom de plum.

One of the ladies from Orange Is The New Black who I think is married or dating the Meshuggah drummer is like the current bassist in Brujeria? I remember thinking they were real too until they signed to Roadrunner and had Dino Cazares in the band for a bit and I realized "Oh, it's a joke."

He was in the band for all the stuff that matters, he even used riffs for both Brujeria and Fear Factory.

I remember getting At Death’s Door II when it came out. I had already heard Suffocation, Death, Malevolent Creation and some of the others. Somehow I hadn’t heard Fear Factory yet and I was immediately turned off by the whisper growls that open the song. The Cynic song surprised me a bit and after going back to it a few times I realized I liked it a lot. But the first time I heard Padre Nuestro by Brujeria, I thought it was the coolest thing I’d ever heard and of course hearing the folklore about them made it even more interesting.

I never got into them but as I've gotten older I've grown to respect and admire the high concept bands with mysterious gimmicks, like GWAR and Brujeria really commit hard to their thing and I respect it a lot.

Bummer. I was a fucked up wasted mess at Cali Deathfest in 2016 and barely remember any of that weekend but one of the moments where the fog lifted a bit was when Brujeria played and I thought they were pretty awesome.

Wiki says she’s backing vocalist.
