Watt is probably my least favorite of the Beckett I've read ( three novels, How It Is, various prose and poems ). I just finished Murphy and found it far more enjoyable.

Glovefullofvaseline was a funny fellow. Wasn't he the same person who said Finnegans Wake was his favorite novel but then only rated it a 7 out of 10? Watt and Wake both feel like an endlessly collapsing tunnel of nonsense so seems weird he would call Beckett 50% shit. He also craps on PK Dick assuming he just writes schlock sci-fi? I've only read VALIS and it was an ultra dense nightmare, totally not stock sci-fi so I assume he hadn't read any PKD when he made that statement. Did he also think he was super smart with his Of Mice And Men screen name? Some asshole trying to act like he's some lit nerd. Seems like the same type of dickhead would make "dark academia" YouTube videos today.

watt's probably his proggiest and most joycean thing so i get, certainly now, why people would find it slightly unapproachable but at the same time maaaaan it's still funny and genuinely fucking weird enough i dont know why people dont like it. i can be a very naive and credulous reader though so ive always been comfortable letting things go completely over my head and not feeling too alienated

that said i think murphy is just flat out better in every respect and doesnt get the shine it should

I did read Finnegans Wake. At the time I read Ada or Ardour it was a 7/10; I would rate it higher now. I apologize for coming off as a prick. That was not my intention.
